By studying samples analyzed by the Curiosity rover, scientists have taken another step toward understanding whether life could have ever existed on Mars. Sister ship Voyager 1 is currently ~23h 34m 06s of light travel time from Earth, or 25,436,000,000 km / 15,805,000,000 mi / 170.03 AU (2026:020:120000:1L). Today is standstill day. At some point today, Earth's orbital velocity cancels out with Voyager 1's exactly, so they are relatively at a standstill. That's why her light-travel time is not changing. For a short period (until April 23/24), her distance will shorten as Earth's orbital velocity catches up with her. After that, Earth will turn away, and she will start to draw away again.
