Wake up America! We need to take a good long hard look in the mirror. What’s going on is not ok! It’s not the America I raised my right hand to defend. Blood in the streets. Armed ICE agents operating without clear tactics/rules of engagement and killing people unnecessarily. Instilling fear in our fellow Americans is no way to govern. Throw the politics out the window. This isn’t right versus left. This is about right versus wrong. This is about having a moral compass to guide us as opposed to wild emotion causing chaos. What has gone on is abhorrent and what you might expect in a third world country but not here. We are devolving into something unrecognizable. Stop the hate. Stop the finger pointing. We need adults to take accountability for their actions. We need adults to stand up and collectively agree, “We are accomplishing nothing right now except dividing ourselves further. We need to put down our weapons and forge a path forward with civility and humanity at the forefront.” Don’t worry about protecting your “base” - worry about protecting your fellow countrymen and women. I am praying for this country right now. It’s not too late. We can fix ourselves but we can’t do it until people start taking ownership of heinous acts. We need to be a country of law and order. We need to be a country that does not infringe on rights of others. We need to come together. Please, I beg you.

Years ago, a lowly AM radio host told the architect of the new stadium, which was under construction, that there would be issues with sun impacting the game, because the field was running east/west, instead of north/south (like 99% of football fields in America). And here we are.

My first year at Baseball America in 2004, Birmingham Southern won 47 games, won the Big South, went to a Division I regional. That was a very good D1 program under Brian Shoop, then it dropped to D3. Now in its final year, BSC is going out with a bang. Bittersweet story here.

𝗔𝗚𝗔𝗜𝗡𝗦𝗧 𝗔𝗟𝗟 𝗢𝗗𝗗𝗦 🙌🏻 Yancey Young, a senior for Sumiton Christian, should be an inspiration for all in today’s society. As the Eagles prepare to play in this week’s Class 1A State Championship, the road to this point for Yancey & his family hasn’t been easy. On July 19th, 2023, Yancey went to the doctor for what he thought was possibly a pulled muscle or a pinched nerve. Four days later, he was diagnosed with Stage 3 T Cell Lymphoblastic Lymphoma. Since that time, he has endured 60 clinic visits, almost 30 chemotherapy treatments, 5 hospitalizations, & numerous surgeries. During his journey, he still went to baseball practices and games, he would do chemotherapy in the morning (a lot of weeks that was 3 days a week), take a nap, and go to baseball in the afternoon. Even though Yancey did not play in the field any this year, he was given the opportunity to bat in a lot of games. He has been the DH for the last 3 rounds and will be the DH in the championship games. Through all of this, Yancey said he’s learned to never give up, the comeback is always better than the setback, and that you are stronger than you think you are. As of April 5th, 2024, he is officially in maintenance. He will continue monthly chemo for two years. The Sumiton Christian Baseball Family have been major supporters for him and his family during this time. When he was first admitted into the hospital, during a 12-day period, he had over 130 visitors. No matter the outcome of the Class 1A State Championship Series getting started today, @YanceyYoung24 has already proven he’s a winner.
