Honda could have legally terminated every licensing deal it had with the Rover Group in January 1994 when BAe sold their share to BMW, effectively torpedoing the company's lineup.
Instead, Honda honoured every contract until MG Rover fnally went out of business in April 2005.

@ThorinWoke @XaNDeRz0N3 @archer_rs Subtract the US from NATO and its remaining European members still have 1.9m military personnel, 1,800 combat aircraft, 220 major warships, and a military budget of about $600bn between them.
They lack depth in certain capabilities, but they're far from defenceless.

@CarReviewExpert Lucid, Rivian, BYD and Nio have been successful because they lack the inertia of legacy automakers.

@GreatRober49687 Alfa Giulia. Deserved to sell at least as well as the 156, but got nowhere even close to it.

Which other car deserved better?

🤧 This car looks THIS good… But it didn’t sell What went wrong? @samy_wizy

@cars_pixels You can clearly see what they've been inspired by, but it's a lot simpler and more elegant than almost anything Audi, BMW or Mercedes-Benz have launched in the 2020s.
It might not be particularly original, but it's been very well executed.

Geely has unveiled the Galaxy Light Gen II concept at the 2026 Beijing International Automotive Exhibition, showcasing the next step in the brand’s design direction.
The concept introduces updated “Ripple Aesthetics” styling, with a taller stance, new front and rear light signatures, and proportions designed to suit multiple powertrains.
Inside, Geely says the cabin blends digital technology with Chinese-inspired design elements, including water ripple themes, symbolic patterns, and furniture-inspired seating.
The Galaxy Light Gen II remains a concept, but offers an early look at future Geely combustion, hybrid and EV models.

@Earl_is_King @GrailArchive They still undoubtedly take wholesale inspiration from European and Japanese manufacturers when it comes to styling, but in terms of software and engineering, particularly in EVs, they're leading the field.
English

@GrailArchive @designer_dick China copies everyone, they steal anything and everything they can get their hands on then uses their low wage workers to undercut anyone
English

@UdokaOsuji @GrailArchive Let's just say that Rover used to put more effort into disguising their cars Honda roots than Nissan did into hiding the N7's Dongfeng parentage.

English

@bestofStarTrek Yes, and there's a good film in there amongst all the schlock and wonky VFX.
Shatner got some really good performances out of the cast, and there are some lovely character moments interspersed with all the nonsense about God and Sha Ka Ree.
English

@ssikfandk @bestofStarTrek It wasn't stolen, it was scored by the same man, and they likely decided to reuse the TMP/TNG theme to cash in on the popularity of the TV show.
English

@bestofStarTrek Yes. Which stole the score ( Music) from Next Gen and Motion Picture if memory serves.
William Shatner directed.

@ekuzustx @GrailArchive You're thinking of the Mazda EZ-6/6e. This Nissan is a rebranded Dongfeng eπ 007.
English

@AlexEdgerton I think you meant to post a photo of the ID.Polo, which definitely makes the ID.3 look like a weirdo EV design.

English

The best thing about this car is that VW didn’t go out of their way to make it look weird, just because it’s an EV. It looks normal. It’s recognizable, and follows their brand identity. Props to VW. Other OEMs please take note.
Just because it’s electric, doesn’t mean you should throw away the rulebook on style. You’ve worked hard for decades to establish a design language your fans identify with. Don’t shoot yourself in the foot with square wheels and wonky body lines, simply because there’s no exhaust pipe.
