@thiscantbeyoufr @elonmusk What happens if migratory birds fly underneath the microwave beam?
English

China is building a 1-kilometre-wide orbital solar power plant 36,000 km above Earth.
Because it sits in geostationary orbit, the giant array never enters Earth’s shadow, so it drinks sunlight 24/7. No clouds, no night, no seasons—just pure, uninterrupted star-power that is up to 10× stronger than the sunlight that reaches the ground.
How do you get the power home?
1. Gigantic solar panels convert sunlight to electricity.
2. On-board klystrons or magnetrons turn that electricity into microwaves.
3. A pencil-thin, low-intensity beam aims at a ground “rectenna” field a few kilometres across.
4. The antenna farm reconverts the beam to clean grid-ready electricity—no CO₂, no ash, no oil spills.
Prototype timeline
• 2028: 10 kW low-Earth-orbit demo satellite tests the microwave link.
• 2030: 1 MW pilot station in geostationary orbit.
• 2035: 10 MW operational version.
• 2050: Commercial 2 GW plant—enough to light a city the size of Paris.
To assemble a 1 km structure in space, China is building the reusable Long March-9 heavy-lift rocket (150 t payload), slashing launch costs and allowing dozens of modular flights to snap together like Lego blocks.

@Abmankendrick Well:
For speed: A probably gets you to any number faster.
For fun: B like you can spin it, and we are used to iOS date picker wheels: they’re fun and get the job done.

@rsms Maybe steer clear of audio, seems like Teenage Engineering has us covered there

Sometimes I play with the idea of starting a company which makes really nice electronics that feels as little “tech” as possible. Ie where the user only have to interface with “tech” when absolutely necessary.
Audio player that uses little nfc tokens, no screen.
TV that just shows what’s input (with a hardware input switch.)
Etc
Because today it’s actually quite hard to find electronics that are “human first”, almost everything is “tech maximalism”, from toothbrushes and cars to baby monitors and door handles

@bryan_johnson Is this test something someone can just ask for or do you need a prescription from a doctor?

@KQEDForum @thereadystate What’s kind of ironic is the people I know who work out the most are posting it constantly online. But seeing those posts is actually, at scale, less motivating to watch, nor more inspiring.

Debating Subsidies, Debt, and Policy Reform
@Jason and @Alex unpack the complex web of U.S. subsidies, government debt, and policy reform, touching on everything from rural broadband to cannabis legalization.
Key Points:
Rural vs. Urban Subsidies: Jason argues against subsidies for both rural and urban areas, advocating for market-driven solutions like Starlink for broadband access. Alex pushes back with the political and economic realities of cutting subsidies, such as agricultural support.
The National Debt: The conversation highlights the growing concern over U.S. debt, with Jason emphasizing the need for bipartisan austerity measures and the role of business leaders in driving fiscal responsibility.
Cannabis Legalization: A candid discussion reveals how political calculations have delayed federal cannabis reform, despite shifting public and bipartisan support.
A deep dive into the tough choices America faces—balancing innovation, fairness, and fiscal discipline.

The @Apple Vision Pro is hands down the best way to experience something outside of first person real life experience. I don’t get all the naysayers. It’s magic.
