@cherylmollan bbc.com/news/articles/… quote - 'Also on the list was aloo naan - made by stuffing the naan with potatoes seasoned with spices and coriander' - unquote. This is NOT aloo naan. The correct name is 'aloo paratha'. Naan has NO stuffings. Only paratha and Kulchas do.

@karpathy I would define Agency = Ownership, period. Proactive, initiative, clear obstacles in the path just 'happen' as a result; they are not requisites for definition completion. Best demonstrated by a young mother, who 'owns' the baby... a lioness around her cubs exemplifies...

Agency > Intelligence I had this intuitively wrong for decades, I think due to a pervasive cultural veneration of intelligence, various entertainment/media, obsession with IQ etc. Agency is significantly more powerful and significantly more scarce. Are you hiring for agency? Are we educating for agency? Are you acting as if you had 10X agency? Grok explanation is ~close: “Agency, as a personality trait, refers to an individual's capacity to take initiative, make decisions, and exert control over their actions and environment. It’s about being proactive rather than reactive—someone with high agency doesn’t just let life happen to them; they shape it. Think of it as a blend of self-efficacy, determination, and a sense of ownership over one’s path. People with strong agency tend to set goals and pursue them with confidence, even in the face of obstacles. They’re the type to say, “I’ll figure it out,” and then actually do it. On the flip side, someone low in agency might feel more like a passenger in their own life, waiting for external forces—like luck, other people, or circumstances—to dictate what happens next. It’s not quite the same as assertiveness or ambition, though it can overlap. Agency is quieter, more internal—it’s the belief that you *can* act, paired with the will to follow through. Psychologists often tie it to concepts like locus of control: high-agency folks lean toward an internal locus, feeling they steer their fate, while low-agency folks might lean external, seeing life as something that happens *to* them.”

Intelligence is on tap now so agency is even more important

@Bell_Support Bell CS -a past distinction is now a ZERO with switch to Philippines, who only regurgitate but cannot solve any issues. Turf them and onshore to Canada, or revenue losses will exceed the savings mirage!

@Bell_Support Bell distinguished itself vs competitors like Rogers on two prongs - pristine network and customer service. CS now switched to Philippines, it's in the gutter! Turf them and onshore, or lose customers en masse. They can't solve anything and are totally incompetent.

@karanbhangui Agreed. Esp the last sentence is critical. 'Consuming' spite as fuel, makes one defy limitations and scale great heights; 'being consumed' draws one into a whirlpool of endeavours, destroying self and society. What stands in between the two is upbringing and self-control.

@heyalexfriedman Alex, send my respects to your dad. I know exactly why he did what he did. Ignore any comments about pettiness. It isn't. It is intolerance and rise against injustice and one of the most efficient, un-depleting fuels. Watch Payback, 1999 movie.

@GurmanBhatia the effort 'Every Hindi film song by Lata Mangeshkar, in one graphic' is incredible and will be used like a wikipedia by her countless fans. However, the song 'Shola Jo Bhadke' from Albela'51, that you credit her with, is sung by Geeta Dutt......
