@LoudMiamiFan Yes, it’s a risk for the organization but any extension is a risk. Sandy got extended, tore his UCL midway into the deal, came back and was terrible last season. His trade value isn’t what it was after he won the Cy Young, despite whatever they try and sell us fans on.

Luzardo has had terrible games as a phillies pitcher they extended him. Skubal is the best has yet to be extended cause teams know pitchers are one Ucl tear away from being out for 1.5 seasons.

Marsee and Stowers must be kicking their agents in the ass. They gave up guarenteed money, to bet on themselves. Oops….. they screwed their families over by not accepting millions of dollars worth of money. There is only two players who deserve long term deals. X & Sandy.

@LoudMiamiFan So, why should Miami extend Sandy. In my opinion, they should extend a prospect that has some high upside like Joe Mack. Most of these other small market teams are extending their prospects, why not the Marins? Gotta extend these players before they achieve anything.

When are we, as Marlin fans, going to wake up and realize that there is nothing elite about Sandy. Other than 2022 (his Cy Young season) he has been a league average starter. We treat him like he is one of the top pitchers in the sport.

@MiamiMarlins_UK It’s not smart business to keep overpaying aging veteran players more and more money. As a small market club, it makes sense to try and acquire a talented young player (with high upside) develop them into players that can outperform what they actually get paid (league minimum).

@dolfanlarry @MiamiMarlins_UK The fan side of me wants them to sign him to an extension, but I also understand the business side. Until they start putting together a consistent WS contender every season they probably won’t keep players around for the long term down here.

@dolfanlarry @MiamiMarlins_UK I not 100% sure that this team will make the playoffs this year. So, if they’re out of the wildcard race at the deadline, I say they trade him to try and bring in some pieces that can bolster the roster in the near future. Every player is replaceable. Even Sandy

@dolfanlarry @MiamiMarlins_UK If Miami had a big TV deal, owned their own network, had packed crowds for every home game and made hundreds of millions in revenue every year than I’d absolutely agree he should stick around. However, his value has never been higher.
