This is @APompliano ... Watching him on CNBC in 2019 captured my interest in Bitcoin. Fast-forward to 2021, he advocated for @CamiRusso who I now work for @DefiantNews. Today, we're interviewing Anthony for our documentary "Two Sides of the Coin" coming soon!

Well written @davoice321! "The economy breathes" is a perfect metaphor for what you've built and is the future of web3 gaming. Or gaming in general, for that matter. The idea that a system will increase rewards in response to the actual level of player engagement is so encouraging. It’s not only critical to maintaining the health of the game economy, but it is also a unique selling point for players. Knowing that the game increases rewards when player engagement is low, such as in the early stages of adoption, is every reason to join and play.

Crypto metaverses failed because they tried to sell real estate to adults rather than build playgrounds for kids. Tokens masked as in-game currency drive speculation. The game stops being a social playground and becomes a high-stakes financial instrument. In centralized game economies like Roblox, currency is a “sink”: you earn it or buy it, spend it, and it’s gone from the system. The in-game items that people earn are the primary assets, and their value is not inextricably linked to the price of a token. In contrast, in Web3/Crypto games, the currency is the primary "asset," and its price is determined by a multitude of factors, many of which are not relevant to the game. Sure, in-game assets in the form of NFTs sound great, but their utility is held hostage by the reflexive relationship between the game asset (NFT) and the token price: Yield-to-Utility Ratio: In web2 games, an item's value is based on Utility (how much better it makes you at the game). In many Web3 games, the value is based on Yield (how much of the token the item can "farm"). If the token price drops by 50%, so does the NFT's value. Speculative Feedback Loop: The relationship between the token ($TOKEN) and the NFT ($ASSET) often creates a dangerous loop, susceptible to speculative market cycles, in which new players are priced out in bull markets and loyal players contend with value destruction in bear markets. The list of problems with play-to-earn mechanics is long, and the impacts on player experience are well-documented, but like a meme coin, it’s still a fast buck and yet another example of how much of crypto is still a casino. Even game studios with the intention of building a quality game will fail if the incentive to play is monetary gain. The good news is that the industry understands the underlying problems, bad actors are being purged, and builders are recalibrating around a passion for gaming as the primary driver, with the potential of crypto/web3 as a secondary enabler.

what are people's opinions on why NFTs / metaverse / crypto gaming hasn't seen as much success as Roblox

Averages do tell you the general behavior of the chain. This has nothing to do with target audiences, which are usually based on a lot of assumptions from a marketing perspective. For example, I'm neither a whale, grinder or claimer. - General gamers are making up a lot of the current volume, their in-game assets are worth a lot more RON these days > more volume per address - Trader-gamers will most likely value their assets in USD, which makes Ronin not the most interesting chain to trade right now. These are most likely decreasing in volatile times. The path forward is something we're already walking on. Not sure what the real innovation is here. - 90% of the games have implemented this lately, Axie Bounty Board, Wild Forest Bounty Board, Ronin Arcade etc. - Game economies with new loops & engagement. Fishing Frenzy, Cambria, Fableborne showing interesting new levers in their economies. ARPU on a chain level has nothing to do with gaming. Games are products on this chain, the goal of Sky Mavis is to make users use the 'farmed' funds on different products to raise those averages (DeFi, savings, collectibles etc.). I do hope Reticle Cold War will be a success that drives more engagement inside the game & for Ronin. 🙏

Downloaded the last 3 months of @Ronin_Network analytics for the team meet-up discussion. Volume per Address Average on-chain volume stands at 3.14 RON. (~$0.5171 USD) per address. Question: Which user segments should we target starting in 2026? General gaming users show low on-chain spending volume. Transactions per Address Weekly spikes on Wednesdays, likely from Axie Bounty Board claims, drive activity. Excluding these spikes, the average drops to about 2 transactions per address per day. Question: How can we boost on-chain engagement? New game releases occur regularly but fail to drive activity. Transactions per RON in fee Treasury earns 1 RON after ~330 transactions, equating to ~$0.0005 per transaction, very low cost. Question: What strategies will create a steady revenue stream for the treasury? Average Revenue per Address Daily fees of 2500 RON across ~250k daily active addresses yield an ARPA of 3.65 RON yearly (conservative DAA estimate). This metric appears too low for business sustainability. Question: What is the roadmap to elevate ARPU? Still a mo-ron, but business changes are needed for more traction and revenue.

Further to my post about Jane, CTV picked up her story and ran this piece yesterday. You can watch the piece on CTV (linked below). If you are able, please consider donating to help: gofund.me/e5f8aef56 ctvnews.ca/video/2025/11/… Unfortunately, when Jane became ill, she was between jobs and had no benefits or income to support her journey. Our healthcare system and social services are not going to cover what she needs to live a quality life in this condition.

My girlfriend's cousin Jane got strep throat this summer and went septic. As a result, her hands and feet had to be amputated. CBC wrote an article about the rising cases in Canada (link on the GoFundMe page). Please share and consider donating. gofund.me/e5f8aef56

@tommyborumjokes @chamath I'm making some assumptions, but considering the resistance he must have faced, the bureaucratic processes, and the legal boxes to be ticked, five months is fast, relatively speaking. How long was the vaccine mandated and recommended?

@chamath how long would you give them, as an executive delegating a task, to accomplish removing COVID and other vaccines from a required schedule for Americans? 1 month? 3? 6? how long until you would fire them? because Bobby's already had about 5 months.

This is the real devin here! It seems the fake Telegram account t.me/DevinSawyer is still active, so please report it as spam if you don't mind. Our security partner, @chainpatrol, is working to have this taken down, but Telegram is slow to respond, so any help is welcome. I'm not sure how the perps got the @devinsawyer TG handle, because when I joined, it wasn't available, and I got stuck with the username "devin_sa". Unless the fraudster is named Devin Sawyer, they must have been squatting on it for a few years!
