Working on #MC14 sidelines, the EU and 12-nation CPTPP bloc — which includes UK, Canada — have resolved to launch talks on a deal that would set rules for how digital services trade flows, how electronic contracts are signed, how data is stored, governed. politico.eu/article/europe…

* Final beef figure not clear but it's obviously fairly close to the 30,000 rejected by industry * Compromise on geographic indicators (sounds like it favours Aus but exact contours re grandfathering etc also unclear) * Security, research pacts coming too abc.net.au/news/2026-03-2…

Some slightly contradictory accounts of exactly what is (and isn't) in this. But sounds like compromise has - no surprise - carried the day. Aus farmers aren't going to get the (much higher) beef/sheep meat quotas they've been pushing for. Middle ground reached on several issues.

Signatories to the WTO’s plurilateral e-commerce agreement intend to implement the deal on an interim basis, regardless of Indian government opposition. At least 70/72 countries backing the plurilateral agreement promised to sign a declaration [at #MC14.] borderlex.net/2026/03/13/wto…
