Defense dominated today’s practice, culminating with Malaki Starks picking off Lamar Jackson on the final play. Trey Hendrickson, Tavius Robinson and Mike Green have been very impactful.

It also helps the dline as far as who is healthy in camp. Who is still out on PUP. Calais tragic family incident. He could be out for a while. I hope he doesn’t retire. But would understand if he does. Travis Jones pectoral injury and John Jenkins (undisclosed injury). Nnamdi Madubuike (neck) being brought back very cautiously.

I predicted that I’d be surprised if Washington were cut. This cements his place.
He’s a Weaver guy. Played a lot better in Mike Macdonald’s scheme and there are parallels of course with what Minter runs.

Defense usually starts camp ahead of the offense. Not the case for Lamar Jackson so far. He was 8/11 in team drills (4/6 in 7-on-7) and had a bunch of chunk gains. Pass rush harassed him late. Snoop Huntley threw back-to-back INTs late. First wasn’t really his fault.

Ravens Camp - Practice 2 Notebook: - Second-straight day with Lamar locked in. He has been throwing dots, leading his receivers at an elite level - Ja’Kobi Lane was extremely active and smooth. Made the catch of the day, elevating in traffic - Liked what I saw from front seven depth. Zion Young, Ethan Burke, Rayshaun Benny, Kaimon Rucker all with positive reps - Defense had back-to-back picks in the team period. One to Chidobe Awuzie where Walker tripped on his route, the other a great read by Keondre Jackson - Danny Pinter took most of the first team reps as Pocic continues to ramp up - Tavius Robinson and Trenton Simpson both looked good in run fit - Liked what I saw in coverage from Chandler Rivers. Wasn’t loud, but it was consistent and his assignment was rarely targeted #RavensFlock

I don’t pay any attention to the national media hacks. The only one I will pay any attention to is Brian Baldinger. He highlights and reviews film and actually works to back up his opinions. I respect that. The rest are hacks whether former players or sports media propeller heads. They have no idea the potential the Ravens have this season. Some things have to come together. Writers like you, know this team Dev. Appreciate all your work and views.

This coaching staff doesn’t shy away from the pressure to win. They embrace it. They know the standard.

Green has always had good closing and corral ability in space, going back college.

Second-year OLB Mike Green flashing plenty during Ravens first training camp practice. He’s had some nice battles with Rosengarten. Green setting the edge and most notably maintained step for step in his pursuit of scrambling Lamar Jackson rolled to his right, but play called dead thanks to Green’s effort which prevented Jackson from cutting upfield.
