We now passed 50M (+20M in the last 4 days) Almost 100TB of data has now been registered. 1B is the target, but i'll report periodically on progress.

Less than 2 weeks in, here's a recap of where we stand. 33M data receipts have been created on Trace (+8M in just the last 48 hours). Roughly 30K DATA was spent to create these receipts (so far!) Apps like Kled create receipts on Trace to give AI labs peace of mind on the data they are buying - a service Kled is happy to pay for as it directly leads to more contracts and revenue. We expect to hit 1.5B receipts over the next few quarters based on projected ecosystem app usage, without accounting for any growth or new apps. Very excited to continue improving and growing Trace into the world's default transparency/audit layer for human contributed AI training data.

Last week, we became The DATA Foundation. Here's a TLDR if you missed it: > a year ago we set out to build the IP layer for the internet. We made some good progress: > Magma's 3M artists registered and licensed their art on Story. Aria brought music rights onchain, including a $100M Korean music IP tokenization pipeline and rights from Justin Bieber, BTS, Miley Cyrus, Dua Lipa, and BLACKPINK. > but we also learned important lessons along the way, including a hard one we'll own clearly: companies behind the most valuable music, games, and brands guard their most valuable IPs jealously, and the open nature of Story's permissionless licensing clashed with the very control those companies want to keep. > despite this, one direction became the clear frontrunner: AI training data. In 2025 we incubated an AI data project called Poseidon. @psdnai proceeded to raise a $15M seed from a16z and showed immediate traction with frontier labs. > every major lab like OpenAI, Anthropic, Google needs answers to the same three questions: can you source the data we need at scale, can you prove where it came from, and can you guarantee the quality? No one can answer all three. It's a multi trillion $ gap. So we're going all in and dedicating everything to it. DATA’s ecosystem is addressing all three: sourcing data through ecosystem apps like @useKled, processing data through Poseidon, and being the audit trail for human contributed real world data through our flagship product, Trace. i.e. every record will have a verifiable receipt. Kled has over 1.5B human contributed data records that are being registered to Trace over the coming months, where they'll be fully auditable - something they need secure additional contracts with labs. Huge congrats to the whole team on the rebrand @datafdn Story did a solid job building the programmable IP layer and licensing system. Moving to The DATA Foundation now feels like the natural next step for everything we've been building. The biggest pain point in AI right now isn't the models, it's having real data with clear origin that you can actually verify and license properly. DATA Foundation is already delivering on this. The network is tracking more than one billion records. The rebrand lets the project focus exactly on this area and become the reliable trust layer for AI training data. Trace as the public audit layer will bring the transparency everyone has been waiting for. And bringing Kled fully on-chain will make it much easier to work with large volumes of real human data directly on the blockchain. Overall I really like this move.
