The Boys showrunner Eric Kripke, explaining in a TVLine interview published yesterday why Season 5 character Firecracker was always going to be murdered — and who she represented:
Firecracker was intentionally made by Krikpe an allegory for Trump loyalists including Marjorie Taylor Greene, Megyn Kelly, Lauren Boebert, and Pam Bondi.
Kripke's own words: "It's the most predictable pattern in the world, which is Trump demanding ultimate allegiance, making someone compromise every value they've ever had, and then kicking them out into the cold. It doesn't matter how much you kiss Homelander's a**. It doesn't matter how much you give up. Nothing will ever be enough, and you'll eventually get hoisted on your own petard. So we felt that was the right punishment for this character."
In light of recent assassination attempts, does it seem that naming real women as characters written to be murdered is satire, or something else?

Invincible creator Robert Kirkman says he's building an American version of a "manga to anime" pipeline:
“What I’m seeing with Invincible, and the way that the animated series is fueling the sales on the trades in the direct market is something that to me is signaling that there’s a potential to build something really exciting in this industry that will sustain us for years and years and years,” Robert Kirkman says during a keynote speech at ComicsPRO 2026.
“Everybody talks about manga and how successful manga is, and the thing that makes manga so successful is the manga to anime pipeline. And with Invincible, we’re seeing that you can with American comics basically do the exact same thing.”
“Invincible is an animated series that adapts the comic book very closely, and it is doing really well, and all of the streaming services are so excited about adult animation that they are rolling out entire divisions trying to do that. And I think that as more comic books are adapted in this way, because having done Invincible, comics being adapted into animation really is the most seamless transition, and I feel like the two mediums are just made for each other. And so I think that there is a future where we can have a comics to animation pipeline that will fuel this entire industry in a completely unprecedented way. And we’re already seeing the beginnings of it now.”

She’s not better written. She’s differently written. You’re trying to argue that show debi has more nuance, which also isn’t necessarily true, by saying that she’s better written.
Adaptations cheat this way all the time. A side character will get more focus and people think “oh wow they’re written so much better”

The latest episode of The Boys is laughably bad. They're giving Game of Thrones a run for its money when it comes to horrible season finales.
From the Terror plotline to Sister Sage's masterplan, it left me speechless it was that stupid.

This show has a real issue with consistency and I’m sure Kirkman either gave a lot of this up to committee or just became a worse writer over time
