The first step towards rebuilding our education system is to enact a law that mandates every public office holder to send their children to Nigerian schools. Under no circumstances should anyone occupying a political office or public appointment be allowed to send their children abroad to study.
The law should also stipulate that, for a period of 10 years after leaving office, they still cannot send their children abroad for education. The penalty for violating this law should be life imprisonment.
We should replicate the same policy in the healthcare system. Under no circumstances should politicians or public office holders be allowed to travel abroad to receive medical care. They and their families must receive their healthcare in Nigeria.
Enforce these laws and watch standard schools being built, quality academic processes introduced, and a world-class healthcare system emerge.

I struggle to understand public officials who proudly celebrate sending their children abroad while the schools they oversee are collapsing. It's not about whether they can afford it. They have every right to spend their money however they choose. It's about emotional intelligence and leadership. Publicly celebrating your escape from a system you are responsible for fixing sends the wrong message to millions of families who have no such option. The goal of public service shouldn't be to build an exit plan for your own children. It should be to build a country where every parent's child has access to an education so good that leaving becomes a choice, not a necessity. That's the standard we should demand.
