Farke has respectable shout for manager of the year. Inspired formation change > turnaround in fortunes. Leeds now above Newcastle!

@leekern13 Re wayward youth Five series of Top Boy beg to differ! And I’m not so confident the ill-informed hysterical underdog fetish hard left won’t turn to terror. I’m old and thus pessimistic about any political party addressing the problem of Islam.

@Carra23 I’m probably not the first to point out that GW1 Liverpool played like PSG and Bayern did Tuesday night home to Bournemouth. 4-2. Could have been more either end. And yes you rightly questioned the wisdom of this approach with Slot!

Getting the now questionable achievements by Mo Farah in exchange for a heap of grief and £ burden from Somalis looks like a bum deal for Great Britain. Not the only one either.

Great game last night of its crazy kind but I still hold Man City 2 Liverpool 1 Pep vs Klopp in 2019 was superior game with proper defending to go with brilliant attacking skills.

0-0 draw: where are all the mavericks and risk-takers? 5-4 win: What happened to the art of defending? Football will always have its moaners, rage-baiters and fun police. Resist them at all costs. This sport is a wonderful, joyous thing with so much complexity to revel in.

If you’ve ever wondered what a game with 10 players with a legitimate claim to being the best in the world in their position looks like… You don’t need to wonder anymore.

@JamesB_afc Olise was injury prone at Palace. We could see the talent. People forget Gakpo outscored Diaz last season. And as with Olise we could see Dembele talent but unfulfilled at Barca. Took the positional switch by Enrique to unlock it all. I enjoyed game last night but 5-4? Nah.

I’m not saying I disagree with this, but can I pose another way of looking at it… How highly was Diaz rated when he left Liverpool? Isn’t Kane exactly the type of player we were told not to overhype before the record talk & Bayern move? Was Olise seen as a CLEARLY better talent than Eze at Palace? Wasn’t Dembele written off reaching his potential by many when he left Barca? I think league intensity & tactical-focus must have an impact in at least helping players reach that potential. That and, of course, great coaching Pep has always wanted the best players and tried to deliver the best football. He wanted 11 midfielders for so long. So why does his football not entertain like it used to? Rice dominated Bayern & Madrid’s midfield (twice), Palmer was class against Bayern this season too. Saka was the best forward on a pitch with Mbappe, Vini & Rodrygo I’m just saaaaying I think it all matters 🙏

Premier League disciples will have you believe that the only reason we can’t play this level of football is because our schedule is too intense and the players are too tired. That might be a contributing factor, but I’m afraid we also have to acknowledge that, as much as I love players like Rice, Caicedo, Saka, Palmer, James, Semenyo etc… the list goes on… they just aren’t quite at the same level. Which is fine, we’re talking about THE BEST players in the world. But we as Premier League fans do have a tendency to overrate players playing in England, particularly if they’re English!

@LaurensJulien The greatest dominant performance in final maybe (though many Milanese would differ) but it was no Istanbul. Or Barcelona. It was a drama bereft final. Inter outclassed. And for me 5-4 is simply wrong. It brings out the Mourinho in me!

@AdamJoseph Yes no question these two would be top 4 in current prem. But would Dortmund or Lens even get auto promotion from Championship? I doubt it.

PSG & Bayern spend more than 2.5 times that of any Ligue 1 & Bundesliga team in wages. In most cases, it is anywhere between 3 & 10 times as much. Farmers league refers to the competition they face, rather than the dominant club at the top. The argument here misses the point by some distance. Champions League is the main source of their playing revenue. Not the case in the Premier League, where a lower placed club often earns more than a CL side.
Dougie Critchley@DougieCritchley

Not bad for two representatives of farmers leagues eh Premier League fans?!

@Carra23 Didn’t think Diaz did that much. Yes Olise had Nunes on toast that first half, should have had a hatty, 2nd half he faded a bit. Kavva a menace for longer. I don’t rate Bayern defence. I was surprised how easy Bayern hurt PSG and at 5-2… shut up shop!!

@martynziegler Nice idea on paper. Problematic in execution. The kids that are good enough eg Yamal, Saka get played to death and become injury prone.

NEW: FIFA's radical plan for every professional club to be obliged to have at least one homegrown u21 player on the pitch at all times. Not one Premier League club has done that this season. thetimes.com/sport/football…

“There’s never been a semi like it for goals, what about the quality?” “What about the balance of attack, attack, attack and the art of defending?” Kane’s response ⤵️ I love Gabriel Clarke… But that’s the most English line of questioning ever!

fucking love the pundits pushing back on this shite ‘entertaining game’ narrative the hosts and comms are pushing too fucking right because what’s the point in all of that if in the end you’ve only got the equivalent of 1-0 on aggregate lmao
