@dht09

Bored of tribal politics. Small state and low taxes. Does Twitter in occasional bursts then switches off. Doesn't answer abuse. RT does not nec. mean agreement.

Based on the mood in Makerfield today, I think @AndyBurnhamGM has made a massive miscalculation. Just got a feeling that @reformparty_uk is going to win, by a significant margin

@dht09 @IsabelOakeshott @AndyBurnhamGM @reformparty_uk I live in Manchester - I’ll be having my say. Makerfield is in Greater Manchester - not the same. Your vexation on an issue that doesn’t concern you - as it directly concerns me - speaks volumes. Maybe Nige can pay for it with his £5m “gift”

@dht09 @IsabelOakeshott @AndyBurnhamGM @reformparty_uk I suggest you read up on Electoral Commission guidelines. It’s nothing to do with being apolitical - it’s in relation to payment by an authority - you can stand in a different one. By your claim it would mean no one could join a union which are explicitly political! 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

@adamshepphard @IsabelOakeshott @AndyBurnhamGM @reformparty_uk You can join a union as a non-political member. You cannot hold certain public sector positions and be party political - I know many people in this position, who would need to resign before they could campaign for a party (but they can be members).

@adamshepphard @IsabelOakeshott @AndyBurnhamGM @reformparty_uk Bad example - many public sector workers are prohibited from standing for election, as they are meant to be apolitical. These by elections are caused purely by Labour infighting, not force majeure, so why should the public pay?

@dht09 @IsabelOakeshott @AndyBurnhamGM @reformparty_uk So you think he should be unemployed going into the by-election but none of the other candidates should? Why? Should a teacher reisgn if they’re standing - that will cost the taxpayer money. How on earth could one party cover the cost of an indpendant democratic election! 🤯🙄

@adamshepphard @IsabelOakeshott @AndyBurnhamGM @reformparty_uk I answered, but it's obvious an MP/ayor isn't a normal job, which is why they do not have the same legal protections as normal employees. The only ludicrous thing is Burnham trying to have his cake & eat it at taxpayers' expense. At the very least, Labour should cover the costs.

@dht09 @IsabelOakeshott @AndyBurnhamGM @reformparty_uk I asked if you had to leave your job to apply for a new one and you didn’t reply because you know it’s a ludicrous comment. There may not be two local elections. Why should there be GE if Starmer goes - the party was elected for a 5-year term, not the person.

@adamshepphard @IsabelOakeshott @AndyBurnhamGM @reformparty_uk No deflection, my job is not in elected politics. You're right - the cost is in fact £5m to the taxpayer for two local elections. And yes, of course there should be a GE when Starmer goes, although not because of the change in leader.

@dht09 @IsabelOakeshott @AndyBurnhamGM @reformparty_uk You’ve not answered my question - what a surprise. You’re deflecting - what a surprise. There isn’t a £4m cost for the selection process is there. I’m assuming if Kier Starmer is replaced you’ll want a general election - how much will cost the taxpayer?

The police in London are deploying facial recognition at a political protest tomorrow. That's every face scanned against a police watchlist for attending a lawful rally. No parliamentary vote authorized this. No legislation regulates it. Not only is it a privacy invasion, some people will stay home knowing their biometrics are being captured, chilling speech. reclaimthenet.org/london-police-…

Maybe you should have blocked a few more visas, including from assorted Islamist badmashes. Maybe then there wouldn’t be a backlash. Six months ago, you were “delighted” to admit an Egyptian radical who had boasted, “I seriously seriously hate white people”. Now you block an elected Polish politician with whom you happen to disagree.
Keir Starmer@Keir_Starmer

I’ll always champion peaceful protest. But the Unite the Kingdom march organisers are peddling hatred and division. We’ve already blocked visas for far-right agitators who want to come here to spew their extremist views. They don't speak for the decent, fair, respectful Britain I know.

“Every single word that the Prime Minister just said is applicable to every single march that has taken place in our towns and cities since 7th October 2023. “He will not tolerate it? He tolerated it for the twenty months of his premiership so far…He made a whole range of commitments and he’s fallen at the first hurdle because this hateful march is going ahead.” CAA’s @SSilvUK speaks to @TalkTV’s Kevin O’Sullivan about tomorrow’s hate march.
