Surgical myth worth retiring: “Normal bilirubin ≠ no indication for IOC”.
Transaminases can rise before bilirubin if early choledocho or partial cbd obstruction. #gallbladder #IOC #SoMe4Surgery @SAGES_Updates @EzraTeitelbaum @EdLinEmory @EricKnauerMD @MBosleyMD @rbarbosa91

This needed to be said. Not every hospital has a robot, and us residents need to be ready for all settings - trauma, community, global. We need balance, not replacement.
I love operating on a robot. But it’s emotional seeing how much laparoscopy we’re losing in training.

💬 Viewpoint: Robotic surgery has rapidly become the default platform in US surgical training, but widespread adoption may erode core laparoscopic skills essential for safe, adaptable care. ja.ma/44wSMui

@diaa_7 @ImanGhaderi @UofAZSurgery @uazresearch Huge congratulations! 👏 Really insightful study. It's interesting to see the gap between self and faculty assessments. You’re contributing something meaningful to how we train future surgeons. Proud of you! ❤️

Does surgical residency really need to be 5 years? 🤔
In our recent study of senior residents, skills improved with PGY—except in Nissen fundoplication, which requires advanced suturing.
Time ≠ mastery. Should we rethink how we train?

🚁 “They flew me in… and sent me home.”
It’s time to FIG-ure it out.
From the Creators of BIG We now bring you Face Injury Guidelines (FIG) to ask the hard questions:
– Who really needs transfer for facial trauma?
– How many get procedures?
– Are we doing more harm than good?

Honored to present at @ASMBS Presidential Grand Rounds!
In >680K RYGB & Sleeve cases, same-day discharge had higher odds of mortality & serious complications vs outpatient (1-day) stay.
Outpatient discharge appears to be safer for selected bariatric patients.
