I always said Tom was best on clay courts, he has the movement, the easy power and the variety, to be fair apart from some concerns with rally tolerance and fitness he’s been so solid and recorded some huge wins as of late. He is now on cusp of qualifying for his first grand slam and of course it’s no easy task when you see who he is facing but why would we not want to back our guy who we have spent months watching develop on the challenger scene when he finally has a chance to make a name for himself? Roman Safiullin holds more experience and is the more familiar player to us all but he prefers indoor/hardcourts, i’m not saying he can’t play on clay but Gentzsch loves playing on the dirt, whereas this is not Roman’s best surface, also when Gentzsch can return with power it often puts abit of pressure on someone like Roman Safiullin who tries to hit winners and end points quick and this can result in shots going wide, long or dumped into the net. Of course Safiullin has recovered some momentum as of late and he looks to be making strides to get back to where he was but Gentzsch is young and hungry and has proven he can compete at this level, I feel like he shouldn’t be higher than +200 so I have to play this one out principle.
