@jws08050 @libsoftiktok That’s a tough question. Mostly because I believe that accommodation should be equal (accommodations for Muslims and Christians).
That and I don’t really want to provide accommodation for religious belief even though I think we probably should.
English

@Diaryofagenius @libsoftiktok yes, that, and where do you draw the line on these "accommodations".
English

@jws08050 @libsoftiktok Are you saying religious belief is a disorder that needs to be accommodated?
Because I might be on board with that line of thinking lol.
English

@jws08050 @libsoftiktok No, we were talking about reasonable accommodations in the use of pronouns with at-risk trans people. Not expressly religious accommodation.
Are you asking me if I believe there should be accommodation for religious belief?
English

@Diaryofagenius @libsoftiktok Previously we were talking about accommodations regarding sociological positions. Like letting muslims take over parks to pray. Minor accommodations.
English

@jws08050 @libsoftiktok We were talking about reasonable accommodations in the context of a disability or disorder.
Does this firefighter have a disability or disorder that needs accommodations?
English

@Diaryofagenius @libsoftiktok Shouldn't the firefighter get reasonable accommodation?
English

@jws08050 @libsoftiktok The ADA is an example of the government administrating reasonable accommodation. You mentioned the gov’s role in administering reasonable accommodation.
You brought it up. What does reasonable accommodation have to do with this firefighter?
English

@Diaryofagenius @libsoftiktok Admitting that the ADA has nothing to do with this situation.
English

@jws08050 @SaltyGoat17 A why are you gonna make me try to go and look up all these bullshit cases. It’s the weekend for God sake.
English

@SaltyGoat17 What do you think? @diaryofagenius is this the right outcome?

Christian McGhee was suspended from Central Davidson High School in Lexington, NC for using the term Illegal Alien in English class.
Just FYI... Illegal Alien is a longstanding U.S. legal terminology used in federal statutes
So his family sued the school board and WON!!
- $20,000
- Public apology
- Nothing on his record
OUR COUNTRY IS HEALING!!!!

English

@jws08050 @DefiantLs That’s ridiculous. Truman’s divisive on purpose. Pretending otherwise is terribly disingenuous.
As to TDS some people really get carried away. But honestly Trump isn’t doing himself any favors in that regard.
English

@Diaryofagenius @DefiantLs Trump is only divisive because unlike you and me, too many people have their feelings hurt over nothing.
And I truly believe TDS is a thing. A real mental disorder.
English

@jws08050 @libsoftiktok We were talking about the gov roll in assuring reasonable accommodations. You said the gov shouldn’t be in the that business and I said they should and pointed to the ada as a good example of that.
English

@Diaryofagenius @libsoftiktok Well you bought up ADA in context of this topic.
English

@jws08050 @DefiantLs And divisive. Trump is a polarizing figure. Art should inspire unity, not exist expressly to own the libs.
English

@Diaryofagenius @DefiantLs And of course Mt. Rushmore. Since it was never finished, they can finish it up, with Trump's face on there. That would be glorious.
English

@jws08050 @libsoftiktok The gov exists precisely to see that people with disabilities are accommodated. That’s why we have the American Disabilities Act.
English

@Diaryofagenius @libsoftiktok Not really, I don't think the government should be in a position to choose who should be accommodated (put up the gay flag) or not. the government doesn't exist to accommodate either position.
English

@jws08050 @DefiantLs Art is a cornerstone of culture and public art installations (statues and sculpture for instance) are valuable even though you can’t eat them.
Consider the washington monument or the Lincoln memorial. Super meaningful and a good use of public dollars.
English

@Diaryofagenius @DefiantLs Good analogy. As you can guess, I don't think either should be paid for by taxpayers, however, at least farmers feed people.
English

@jws08050 @DefiantLs Not really. I actually think the government has a responsibility to patronize the Arts. I don’t think that makes Artists public employees any more than farm subsidies make farmers gov workers.

Meet Captain Jeffrey Little, a devout Christian and member of the Los Angeles County Fire Department’s Lifeguard Division. He was reportedly SUSPENDED from his job after he refused to raise rainbow Pride flags for Pride Month.
Little initially asked for a religious accommodation, which the county reportedly initially approved before revoking it two days later.
He is now suing the Los Angeles County for religious discrimination and harassment.

English

@jws08050 @WHLeavitt Too bad so sad womp womp.
Trumps till tried to terminate a EO on pause because it’s still being litigated. That’s why the judge had the authority to do what they did.
See? If you know the actual facts, it all makes sense.
English

@Diaryofagenius @WHLeavitt It's not expired BECAUSE it is being litigated. The courts should not have even taken this up.
English

@jws08050 @WHLeavitt Yes, federal judges have the power to modify EO’s. Judges cannot rewrite the text, but they can issue injunctions that shorten, modify, or permanently strike down orders if they find them to be unconstitutional or in violation of statutory law.

English

@jws08050 @WHLeavitt The executive orders and expansions of Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Haitian nationals granted by the Biden administration has not expired as the case is still being litigated.
Get your facts straight.
English

From your link:
"Courts may strike down executive orders not only on the grounds that the president lacked authority to issue them but also in cases where the order is found to be unconstitutional in substance."
STRIKE IT DOWN, not modify it. What this judge did was modify it by extending it and not allowing it to expire. That is judicial fiat. We did not elect judges to rule over us.
English

@jws08050 @DavidJHarrisJr What ethical question that a $30 billion enterprise should be held by somebody who gets compensated for that amount of work?
Do you have a problem with the massive salaries in the private sector?
English

@Diaryofagenius @DavidJHarrisJr That's a shame that nothing illegal was done. It should be illegal. I'm not arguing that point. Like I said in the past, as long as the forms are filled out correctly, it's ok. It's legal. And that is a problem. It may be legal, but I wouldn't consider it ethical.
English

@jws08050 @DavidJHarrisJr holds roughly 30% of the U.S. dental insurance market, and generates an estimated $30 billion in annual revenue.
It makes total sense. The CEO of such a massive entity would be paid a high salary.
English

@jws08050 @DavidJHarrisJr Nothing illegal was done here.
Delta Dental is not a single entity, but rather a massive national network of 39 independent, primarily nonprofit and not-for-profit member companies. In total, the system is a healthcare giant—it covers over 90 million Americans,

English

@jws08050 @WHLeavitt The link I provide provided comes directly from the federal government’s website on executive orders. It’s literally the government telling you they can do that. Your government. Trump’s government.
Don’t argue with me, argue with the source.
English

@Diaryofagenius @WHLeavitt No, they don't. It's a EOs are an Article II power. They can not shorten, lengthen, or modify. They need to stay in their lane. If there was an argument to be made that this specific EO was unconstitutional, the time to do it is when Biden made it, not when it expires.
