@EdinvaleFarm We got down to 2 weeks in, 1 week to settle them for TB test and 1 week to test. If it hadn't been for that, they would have been very happy out, and so would the gross margins.

Funny to think that 5 years ago that these animals would have been routinely housed for a month by now. Changed land tenure has played a massive part in the change but so has grass management. Reckon 2 more weeks until we house.

Like the emerging leaders course, this gave me a group of now friends who are just brilliant people. As an elder in the group I became “Uncle David”. The course gave me an intense period of self-reflection & perspective over my life and my career. It truly was invaluable.

With the new perspective of loss, I found myself reassessing my priorities in life. I cut back my work to spend more time with family and decided to apply for a place on the @WCFAlumni a& @duchyRBS Challenge of Rural Leadership Course and attended in Jan ‘23

@EdinvaleFarm No. In sating £175 a lamb seems fair for the work/investment that goes in. I'm just pointing out the disparity between this and what food ppl value/spend money on.

At risk of inciting the haters I have a question. I have just been offered lambs for our butchers at £175 plus I would have an abattoir cost of £45. Why should I buy this Scotch Lamb over a grass fed NZ alternative at a fraction of the price?

@EdinvaleFarm No, I'm suggesting the quality of unprocessed simple foods (in this case, lamb) outways that of many far more expensive (and cheaper) options. Transport and quality debates are mostly void. *I'm mid lambing, hence making little sense 🤣

@diggerdansmith Mid? Some have barely started!! 🤣 NZ price is getting dragged down by over supply from Australia. Theirs was really really low at one point. Agree quality should always pay but are you inferring that overseas product isn't a quality product?
