@ArcanaLegacy It looks like a lot more fun than Kirby and the Rainbow Paintbrush, which I almost just bought for Wii U, but then I remembered all you do is draw lines on screen for Kirby to follow. So I bought Yoshi's Woolly World instead.

Hot take.. physical media sucks! I don’t want to get a disc out to play a game. There is a reason I got a bunch EverDrives and have in-game-reset mods on every retro console. The collector in me does want physical but it’s just inconvenient and for that reason I have not purchased a physical game since Xbox One’s launch day. What I do hate is paying full price for a game that I don’t actually own. Physical or digital. What we should all be demanding from these big corps is to give players real ownership and the right to play purchased games indefinitely.. across platform generations.

@jrostopovich @notpowers The limitations of physical media adds emotional texture to every format, it makes them human. Digital will never replicate its imperfections.

@notpowers Sure. But flexibility doesn’t always translate to a more beautiful image and it’s almost impossible to replicate entirely in post. Film’s limitations are what produces its magical quality.

They sell high dynamic range (the amount of detail visible in light and shadows) as a feature of digital but it’s really a bug. More detail isn’t always better. It’s why movies look cartoonish now and everyone looks so haggard in photos without filters.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, there is no reason why Shang Chi, after a widely well received and successful movie, did not even appear in an MCU film for the last 5 years — how can the general audience connect with new characters when you never give them a chance

Digital games have destroyed physical games... Just like: Streaming movies has destroyed DVDs E-readers have destroyed books Streaming music has destroyed vinyls/CDs Oh wait 🙃 If other mediums can still have physical why are we expected to accept a loss of physical games?
