Thank you @realDonaldTrump for spearheading a massive $300 billion oil refinery to locate in Brownsville.    Not only will this project grow the energy workforce in the Rio Grande Valley, but it will also help Texas continue to lead the nation in energy production.   Congrats to the Port of Brownsville on attracting another historic investment.

I’m absolutely heartbroken that one of our own—a graduating senior at UT—lost her life in the horrific attack in downtown Austin on Sunday morning. My heart aches for her family, friends, and our entire Longhorn community. Please keep her family in your prayers.

Today it was confirmed that among those who lost their lives is one UT student. This is devastating, and we will remember her. Also, a number of our students sustained injuries during the attack, some of them very serious. I have met with many of their families and will continue to support and pray for them. Today is a difficult day for our city and the University. We are deeply saddened by the tragedy that occurred early this morning in downtown Austin. Our prayers are with the victims and all those impacted, including members of our Longhorn family. We are also grateful to the first responders who acted quickly to save lives, and to our UT counselors and staff members who have provided care and support throughout the day. If you have been impacted, you can contact the 24/7 UT crisis line at 512-471-2255 or TimelyCare, which is also available 24/7. Student Outreach and Support is available for student support at 512-471-5017, and the Counseling and Mental Health Center is open from Monday through Friday, 8am-5pm for mental health support.
