One of my pet peeves too! I love how I typed in a six digit figure for down payment and it automatically detected that it was cash, not percentage! Checked it on my phone so the field labels weren’t initially visible, but I’ll try it out on a desktop when I’m not flying at 39,000 feet. Cool tool!

My UX pet peeve: loan calculators with awkward inputs and tedious data entry for multiple scenarios. loanplot.com is super-raw (and probably has math issues), but it’s where I’m exploring a better input box specifically for loan data. Type 1.2m for purchase price; 20k in the down payment field. Then switch to 10%. Click a field and use the up and down arrows, or spin your mouse wheel. (Try that for money and number-of-months inputs, too; 15y to shorten your mortgage.) The goal is natural input parsing, easy nudging for inputs, and a ‘just works’ feeling. What do you think? What is it missing?
