Located between Gopal Temple and Mahakaleshwar in Ujjain, the Chaubis Khambha stands as a significant historic gateway, once marking the ancient entrance to the sacred Mahakal area.
Dating to the 11th-12th century CE, its beautifully carved 24 pillars and inscriptions of Mahamaya and Mahalaya reflect the architectural and cultural legacy of the Paramara period. Deeply rooted in ritual traditions, the site continues to hold religious importance, especially during Navaratri, when age-old processions and worship practices are still observed.
