I’m going to switch to using this account only for Disney-related posts, and my @parkhoppingcom account for non-Disney. Because.

Switch to Mint Mobile and stop spending so much on your wireless plan. Use my referral link to get $15 in renewal credit. Then use the money you save to buy me lunch or something (as a thank you). fbuy.me/kCxRK

The new @FuelRodPower kiosks are clearly nicer but it just took me way too long to go thru the process of swapping. Old ones were always super quick and easy.

#uofistbump to Gabe and Ashlyn at Burning Blade Tavern today. After a half hour wait for cheese bites two days ago, they assured us tonight would be fast. And it was. Thank you for caring!

@Parkeology One of the may reasons some folks who used to obsess and frequent WDW are now chilling at Univeral. “I can’t see a fancy animatronic there either, at a third the cost.” ;-P

Imagine waiting in line for an hour, or burning a Lightning Lane, to ride Na'vi River Journey. Then floating through four minutes of boredom to get to the big finale only to see this! “B-Mode” is video projected onto what appears to be a bed sheet. Would you be upset with this?

@Parkeology Assuming they still have the talent … if Disney ever gets properly challenged, all they have to do is go back to what they used to do, and if they need a new park, just make it out of all the cool stuff the overseas parks have.

Sure, Tangled is represented in the Magic Kingdom, in the form of bathrooms. Meanwhile, Tokyo DisneySea gets this! Note quite the same. We wonder if we will ever see these Japanese rides stateside?

@Savethedmagic This makes two of the original symbols - unicorn and dinosaur - gone. Even if we never got unicorn. (Or was it dragon? 1998 was a long time ago!)

The closure of Dinosaur at Animal Kingdom feels symbolic. The creative vision was once to champion real animals and animals of the past and fantastic creatures, not just random corporate IP. Now it’s hard to tell what the creative vision even is, or will be.

Imagine if Disney upgraded and plussed existing attractions while expanding into undeveloped land instead of bulldozing classics. You can move forward without destroying what made the parks special. Disney used to know this.

@Savethedmagic It fell short of Universal Studos Hollywood, but was still a fun half day park. The three hour tour was awesome. Like a VIP tour without paying extra ;) And those of us who got to be in the water tank demo will never forget the experience. Yikes.

I really miss the old original studios from this time. It was such an amazing experience and it really did feel like it transported you somewhere special. Not sure if we will ever get that back again, it’s such a random mix now. Not quite sure what it wants to be.

Original Disney-MGM Studios entrance shortly after opening in 1989. There are a couple of cool things to note in this photo! Obviously, there is the Mickey Mouse flower bed and the original entrance signage. I really enjoy seeing the original studios flag on the left pole.

@MickeyViews Yeah, they put mister displays in each park during this time. Probably the era when they added the “car wash” at Epcot.

Do you remember these giant Cokes at Disney-MGM Studios? We recall at least one of them intermittently misting or spraying out water! It was a rather random thing to have at a Disney Park in retrospect haha

@Parkeology Fave memory: at DL on night when they were first testing the snow machines that are now everywhere. They were not rushing us out. Some of us hung around until they finally did have to ask us to leave, but we got to see it all before anyone else did.

Have you been the last to leave the park? Flickering lights, quiet music, and not a soul in sight. It may be the ultimate Disney “magic”.

@UnleashedVegas We are eager to return. Learned that we missed a lot. Hoping for a “show guide” some day listing things to see, etc.

@UnleashedVegas We need a map, and a list of things to see, like a theme park. Folks we’ve talked to also didn’t understand there were other “things” happening - just “four haunts, two bars, quick serve and sit down and some actors walking around, and one clown show”.

@UnleashedVegas kudos to Margaret (?). She, and a creepy gal in a Universal jacket near some barrels, were standouts on 10/18. We will be back.

@EricHersey two weeks before Halloween and Vegas Halloween Unleashed was not packed. But they have the ability to let folks in free or cheap just to dine and eat thanks to using QR codes for haunt access. Enjoyed it much more than HHN. Still not scary but better.

@Parkeology 100%. I wonder if any of the loops have been preserved: ditto for the monorail spiel that used to say “and they never expire” about unused ticket days.

If you’re of a certain age, you didn’t feel like you had truly arrived at Disney World until the magic started INSIDE your car! Do you remember tuning your radio dial to pick up today’s helpful info? It must seem so primitive to kids today, but it was a true core memory.
