PSA that's going to save some accounts: If you're using PayPal Wallet with Shopify Payments and have a high dispute rate, stop right now. PayPal disputes are 3-4x higher than card disputes and Shopify lumps them together. Your "low" card dispute rate is getting destroyed by PayPal's numbers. Separate them (or suffer the consequences). P.S. It is still possible to connect an external PayPal account and still use Shopify Payments.

Let’s say Shopify Payments shuts your account down. You can get a new processor pretty easily. BUT Getting approved? Not that hard. Getting approved FAST? Nearly impossible. Applications normally take 1-2 weeks minimum. Setup and integration, add another few days. By the time you're processing again, you've lost 2-3 weeks of revenue. This is why having backup processors isn’t optional.

If you’re on Shopify Payments you might be seeing higher chargeback rates in the dashboard. It’s because Shopify started counting RDR resolutions differently. But Shopify doesn't make the dispute rate rules, Visa does. And Visa still excludes RDR from VAMP ratios. So your dashboard looks worse but your actual compliance status didn't change. Don't panic based on what Shopify's UI shows you.

“Why are they putting a rolling reserve on my account with a .2% chargeback rate??!!” It can happen but usually when you look into it, the low chargeback rate is the lifetime metric, not recent. So your lifetime chargeback rate might be low but if you look at the data from the last 1-3 months, you’ll usually see a spike. That’s when processors start to get cautious and put holds or reserves in place. Holds can also be caused by: - Spikes in sales - High refund rates - Fulfillment times and rates - Customer sentiment online and more! Chargebacks aren’t the only reason for a hold.

If you get terminated by Shopify Payments or Stripe, it’s not over yet. Shopify Payments is incredibly conservative. Other processors know this. There are literally companies built around the question "who did Stripe reject this week?" Taking terminated Shopify/Stripe merchants is a normal, profitable business model. You have more options than you think.

Most merchants don’t know that processors can see RDR alerts in their systems but they can't see CDRN or Ethoca. Those just look like regular refunds. Now that Shopify's tracking RDR differently, this ’gap’ matters a lot more. CDRN and Ethoca are invisible to processor tracking. They prevent chargebacks without showing up anywhere as a "prevented dispute." Long story short: Use all three. RDR for Visa compliance, CDRN and Ethoca for everything else.

We are proud to announce Disputifier has been relaunched on the Shopify app store! Despite the brief security incident, we’ve been committed to a few things: - Ensure no merchants face any financial losses - Ensure no merchants face any service interruptions - Ensure merchant’s disputes continue to be prevented and won back on autopilot We are happy to confirm that each of these commitments has been met & we want to thank our valued clients for their continued support and patience. Our team of 75+ has stepped up and handled thousands of questions, tens of thousands of chargebacks, and shipped many product improvements to improve security, privacy, and safety in the past few weeks. We've also invested heavily in collaboration with multiple cybersecurity companies to conduct extensive penetration testing & security improvements, well beyond industry standards—because we wanted to be absolutely certain our security is top-notch. Yes, we spent more time than we needed to, but we think that's a good thing. It shows how seriously we take protecting our users. We have learned a lot from this incident that we're eager to apply to build a better foundation for the long-term. We’re focused on continuing to build a best-in-class chargeback management platform. With huge features and major enhancements coming soon, we look forward to continuing to provide peace of mind for our merchants. By ensuring that Disputifier embodies service, security, and merchant-obsession, we will continue to serve our tens of thousands of customers into 2026 and well beyond. Please feel free to reach out to our friendly support team anytime and we’d be happy to chat with you!

Just wanted to provide an update to everyone who has seen today’s news There was a security vulnerability which led to an exploit that a hacker used to refund Shopify orders across a handful of our clients. However, no clients have taken or will take any financial losses Most of these refunds were able to be canceled by the processor, and we will be reimbursing 100% of losses for any clients that weren’t able to cancel refunds. This issue impacted <.1% of our customers. Only a small number of customers on the Shopify app were impacted. Regardless, it was an absolute abhorrence that this occurred and is being taken extremely seriously. The issue was resolved permanently and will not occur again. Alert coverage If you are on Disputifier, your alerts will continue to function and prevent chargebacks. If you uninstalled Disputifier today, we will continue to handle alerts and refunds over the weekend regardless. It is important to ensure that we have an active collaborator access account in order to process refunds during this time. Impact to existing merchants As I mentioned, no clients will experience any financial loss from this situation. We did take our merchant-facing app down as a temporary measure. App access will be restored as soon as possible. Even while you cannot access the app, you will still be getting alerts and these will still be refunded. Go forward: Disputifier will continue to help protect merchants from chargebacks. We will invest heavily in cyber security and ensure that any vulnerabilities are prevented or promptly resolved. We will continue cooperating with law enforcement to bring this individual to justice. We truly appreciate everyone who’s reached out in support of us and look forward to sharing more updates as they become available. For any questions, please feel free to reach out to us at incidentresponse@disputifier.com

Chargeback prevention isn't sexy: - No viral tweets about it - No founders flexing coverage rates - No “like and comment to get my strategy” But you know what's even less sexy? Reserves and holds. Chargeback prevention >>>

Started tracking how long it takes different payment processors to respond to urgent issues. Stripe: 3-5 business days PayPal: When they feel like it My bank: Laughs in 'please hold.' Crypto bros might've been onto something

Amazon needs to pay back $2.5B for making cancellations of prime too difficult. Let me say it again: One of the biggest companies on Earth with the best lawyers in the world couldn’t win the FTC lawsuit. Think about it before you require your subscribers to go through a 14-step cancellation process.
