@mlwerner1 Bad customer service can break a brand especially when there are brands such as Casper, Nectar, Purple, etc. This is my second and last purchase with Ghostbed and I will tell all friends and family not to purchase.
English

@mlwerner1 I bought a ghost bed two weeks ago and it arrived damaged. I’ve sent photos and no managers are available to return my calls. #badcustomerservice #doesanybodycareatghostbed

@locksanti @unprocast I think we just disagree. I don’t think kids skipping on a skip day is a big deal. I don’t think parents calling in for them is a big deal. I don’t think kids should lose privileges to opt out of a final for skipping either though. So…
English

@dissidentedu @unprocast It seems either you’re mishearing or I’m misspeaking. Either way, those kids whose parents call them out get treatment that other students do not. It becomes an issue of entitlement & privilege that we would rather not have students be caught up in.
English

@locksanti @unprocast My district couldn’t legally sanction it. But part of the point is kids testing boundaries. They don’t want it sanctioned. They want a little independence. I think it’s developmentally appropriate. All I’m hearing is “the rules are the rules” which to me is 🤷♀️
English

@dissidentedu @unprocast Parents shielding children from consequences is a can of worms I don’t wish to open here. Coaches don’t allow kids to play if senior skip is on a game day. Should they be excused from that as well? I think it should just be called “senior beach day” and have it sanctioned.
English

@locksanti @unprocast A bit pedantic. Kids call it skip” so there should be inherent consequence that parents shouldn’t shield them from? What if they called in “parent call in day”? Honestly, it feels kind of inappropriate for schools to be critical of how parents choose to manage this small thing.
English

@dissidentedu @unprocast Our issue is--if parents call in, it's not a skip day. Skipping suggests 'breaking the rules,' and thus accepting the consequences. Why not just make a sanctioned day for seniors? We keep going around about this issue.
English

@locksanti @unprocast As a teacher, I would absolutely call in excused for my kid for this.
English

@unprocast As a curious educator-- did you call them out (excused), or is it a traditional skip (unexcused absence)? In my school, many seniors have their parents call them out for "skip day" so they can still qualify for exemption from a final exam. We find this fascinating.

@FixingEducation I don’t buy this as some moral good. Our biases impact how we teach. My students always know my political affiliation. I tell them that I try to be aware of it, but they should approach all education with a critical and evaluative lens. They can’t do that without transparency.

@FeverPotomac @henryzcohen Twenty years in NYC. Never had a car. Rarely use an Uber. Lived in DC for years before that. Can’t imagine it without my car.
English

@henryzcohen Interesting. I think NYC is very car dependent and would argue that DC is much more walkable.
English

@MarioNawfal Demoralizing conversation. No one is listening to anyone. Half the responses are literally just “no, you’re wrong”. No one is arguing solutions. Everyone is arguing about if we should even bother with solutions.

@ndhapple Cocker spaniel. This is Theo. We live in a studio apartment. He’s great at off leash at Prospect Park, likes fetch and tug of war and swimming is one of his favorite things to do. He’s gone in rivers, oceans, lakes and once uninvited into a hotel pool.

@ToriGlass Mine has just been about deciding to like myself more and this not be afraid to do things I’ve always wanted to do. Not much of a crisis.

@Chris_C_Barber @BelleAMama1 @tplhhi Even if it’s not coming from above. What do you do when you have 12 assignment, on a skill, the S has turned in only the first one or two. Never demonstrating competency in the fully developed skill? How do you grade an S that hasn’t demonstrated mastery due missing assignments

@MrBoothY6 @charlweorf @Teacherglitter @_MissieBee @DeputyGrocott Or in a classroom that relies heavily on group work, as a way for them to become more self sufficient and not rely on the perceived abilities of more “high achieving” peers.
English

@charlweorf @Teacherglitter @_MissieBee @DeputyGrocott It's not necessarily that all the children are sat by ability, but the group struggling the most are often placed together as it's perceived (understandably) as a way to provide them with support quickly and easily.
