Police have appealed for public assistance to identify a suspect wanted over an incident in Arugam Bay, where a foreign woman reported an attempt of sexual assault. According to police, the woman had posted a video online showing the suspect engaging in indecent sexual behaviour, prompting the Pottuvil Police to begin investigations into the incident, which reportedly occurred on the 25th. Police urged anyone with information on the suspect to contact the Pottuvil Police Station via 063 2248022 or the Officer-in-Charge on 071 8591168

Sri Lanka Police have arrested a 23-year-old man from Kalawanchikudi over the incident involving a foreign tourist. The New Zealand national had filed a complaint stating the man behaved indecently during her travels and later posted a video of the incident online. Investigations revealed the incident occurred while she was travelling from Arugam Bay towards Passikudah. Further inquiries are underway.
