Most people don't pay taxes. They gift taxes. They mis-characterize their private-sector pay as 'wages', which is a term of art. In the US Code: 1. 'wages' means payment to 'employees' 2. 'employees' means govt workers and corp officers Most of of us are NOT govt workers or corp officers, therefore most of use do not receive 'wages'. Note, "United States" is a thing in the US Code. It means the govt. To work 'in' the United States is to work for United States. United States is not a geographic term most of the time. United States, the govt, can tax the member states , which can then tax the people. United States cannot tax the people directly. 16th Amendment merely said all FEDERAL sources are taxable income. Private sector income is non-taxable income. Furthermore, the tax is only on taxable income. Which meanl there is non-taxable income. Person means persona, franchise, individual entity.
