@IagoapGwilym26 @sola_chad I only pray to God. You pray to dead people. We are not the same.
English

@dizzy_disciple @sola_chad So you only pray the our father prayer?
English

@IagoapGwilym26 @sola_chad your note mixes true historical facts with conclusions that don't actually follow from those facts.

English

@dizzy_disciple @sola_chad Yeah… no… even if you reject the Council of Rome officially defining it in 382 it doesn’t change anything because :

English

@IagoapGwilym26 @sola_chad Everything concerning this conversation is found in a single sentence: “Pray then like this: ‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name.’" - Jesus in Matthew 6. I wont address this one any further because it'll take way too long and I have better things to do.
English

@dizzy_disciple @sola_chad And secondly, we don’t think their needed for prayer too, its optional.
We got to God directly.
But scripture shows the people in heaven and the angels can hear us.

English

@IagoapGwilym26 @sola_chad Yeah... no... This is disputed. The so called Decree of Damasus is preserved in a later collection called the Decretum Gelasianum. There is no surviving record of a Council of Rome in 382 officially defining a 73 book biblical canon in the way later Catholic claims suggest.
English

@dizzy_disciple @sola_chad I don’t have space to type this, so I screenshotted from my notes.

English

@dave_stotts @IndianaBrunner Hmm, Matthew 6:14 says nothing about death. It's about our relationship with God. The Bible is clear that God pardons sin by His grace based on Christ’s work on the cross alone. Our right standing before Him is established on one thing only... the finished work of Christ.
English

So there is no sin a Christian can commit that would jeopardize their relationship with God? Jesus seems to think unforgiveness is kind of a big deal (Mt 6:14 For if you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you, 15 but if you do not forgive others their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.)
English

@IagoapGwilym26 @sola_chad Nobody thinks they're dead. We just don't think they're needed for prayer nor are they omniscient like God. The Catholic Church formally defined 7 extra books as Scripture at the Council of Trent in 1546. So you're the ones that made something up in the 16th century here, bub.
English

@sola_chad When someone who thinks people in heaven are dead and uses a 66 book canon that didn’t exist before the 16th century tries to lecture me on the Bible

@greg_scott @WokePreacherTV @redeemed_zoomer Lol right. Give me a stripmall church over this crap any day,

@WokePreacherTV But it’s a “mainline church” so it would be “evil” to leave, per @redeemed_zoomer

@IjazTheTrini @MikeWingerii Which body part do you think Satan entered Judas? His nose?

@MikeWingerii Christians: Silly Muslims, thinking Satan enters a human's body part.

Just watched it. It's 100% clickbait, just as Wes said.
Cameron opens by saying he’s not going to use the “we need an infallible church to determine an infallible canon” argument.
Then he spends the rest of the video establishing a softer version of that exact same argument: “we need a reliable church to determine a reliable canon.”
It’s the same line we’ve heard a thousand times: “How could these early church fathers and councils believe error on other doctrines and still somehow get the right Bible?”
I’ll tell you, Cameron: the same way any person can do anything while holding faulty beliefs or sinning — by the grace of God.
God inspired the writing of Scripture. You don’t think He could also work through His people to collect the correct books? Recognizing inspired Scripture does not require those leaders to have perfect understanding of every doctrine for all time.
Let me end with this: If Cameron's logic is correct, how do we know the Old Testament is reliable? It was already compiled and received before Jesus walked the earth. The Jews of AD 30 were overwhelmingly wrong. They rejected their own Messiah! Yet, we still use their canon.
The logic doesn’t work — and I’m still Protestant.

@ThemBeforeUs @MikeWingerii They can march in the streets naked in front of children but you guys can't put up billboards because a child might read it? Make it make sense.

@MikeWingerii We didn't think agreeing with Obama in 2008 would be that controversial.

This isn’t what tongues is. This is trash.
How many problems can you list?
I’ll give you just six.
1. This is exactly the kind of “tongues” that the NT forbids. Of course the comments are full of people who think you’re crazy.
2. These aren’t any kind of real tongues. It’s repetitive gibberish unlike any real language. The Bible speaks of “tongues” which always means real “languages” and not just your tongue flopping around as you make weird sounds.
3. They are sending this stream out to everyone they can, as though tongues was meant to showboat or demonstrate their own spirituality. The opposite of the rule of edification in 1 Corinthians 14.
4. There is no interpretation and Scripture says if you don’t have someone interpret them stop talking openly in tongues.
5. There is no prayer FOR interpretation. Scripture requires this.
6. The dude is reading and responding to chat messages as he makes goofy noises, pretending it is tongues.
Look, I support tongues as we see it in the Bible. But what you see in this video is an all too common mockery of this beautiful work of the Holy Spirit. Better to say nothing at all than to perform this circus of unbiblical blabbery.

Catholic Church: Formally declared these 7 extra books as fully authoritative and inspired Scripture at the Council of Trent in 1546 (the 15th century)
English

Prior to the Council of Trent in 1545 there was no such thing as an agreed upon “Roman Catholic Bible.” Cardinal Ximenez (who died in 1517 - the very year Martin Luther nailed his 95 Thesis to the Castle Church door in Wittenberg) in the preface to his Complutensian Polyglot Bible described the 7 books of the Deutercanon as “books outside the canon.” He explains that their purpose is to be “received by the Church rather for the edification of the people than for the authoritative confirmation of ecclesiasitcal doctrines.” In essence, Ximenes’s position was: valuable and edifying for Christians, but outside the primary canon and insufficient by themselves to establish doctrine.

The PCA’s biggest regret is that John Calvin isn’t still alive so they could excommunicate him.
Psalm Warfare@PsalmWarfare
The PCA is sending a pretty clear message between Zach Garris and Rick Appleton. Do not be masculine, and do not speak about sins of women. Here is said violation from Rev. Rick Appleton on Titus. This is outrageous.

@french_tho37809 @Protestia oh stop, dude. we're so over it.

How sad, leave it to a (MOD) Modern Day Pharisee, that you would mischaracterize this event, & take a moment of innocent humor, that any reasonable person would have gotten his point, agreed, and laughed along.
Rob Bell is obviously from a very different religious culture than you or I. That being said, I have read most of his books, and I've watched him be rejected and ostracized by the christian community at large. He's a modern day scholar, and many of his criticisms of western christianity are very valid. His committment to walking and displaying the countenance of Christ is irrefutable.
Yet, just like Jesus, we shout "crucify Him" and choose Barabas.
