If Biden does step aside, all of the top leading Democrats will need to get behind one candidate. The choices are: 1) Gavin Newsom 2) Pete Buttigieg 3) Kamala Harris 4) Gretchen Whitmer 5) Amy Klobuchar 6) Wes Moore 7) Roy Cooper The problem is we are 4 months from the election, so the replacement would have to be well-known own. That eliminates Cooper, Moore, and Whitmer. It would also have to be someone who is charismatic, can excite the base, and doesn’t have a horrific approval rating. That limits it down to Newsom, and Pete Buttigieg. Newsom’s approval rating in California is under water though. Who would the Dems take?

Replacing Biden is easier said than done. How do you pick the replacement? No matter who they pick, you will upset the voters who wouldn’t get to pick the replacement. Kamala Harris isn’t the choice, but you would upset a good portion of minorities and women by choosing someone else. Newsom is the most prepared to run, but his record in California is not the greatest. Pete Buttigieg is probably the most liked and best debater, but again how do you not upset Harris and her supporters?
