@ctvottawa I think the part @billcarrolltalk glosses over about when Uber first arrived is how terrible our taxis had become and WHY it was so easy to convince so many to dump them. Not that I'm wildly pro-Uber, but the taxi cartel deserved to get broken up.

@screamscape Without making it a political debate, the wild uncertainty about tariffs and what rates they could be would make buying from most manufactures very difficult at the moment. It could cost between 15 and 50% more. Can't underestimate how much that is part of the delays...

Wow! In Berlin S-Bahn the doors open BEFORE the train comes to a full stop (second video). Why can’t we do that in Canada? TTC? Ottawa? At OttawaU (Campus) Station the total stop time is about 45 seconds!

This is Pimisi Station in 2019 looking West towards Bayview where a passing / storage track would be a good investment.
More of those useless (?) benches like outside Hurdman.

@RM_Transit His point is that the provincial government is picking up 100% of the tab for many GTA area projects, while only 33% of the tab for Ottawa projects. And it's a fair point. Why are local 613 taxpayers saddled disproportionately with local projects?

1) They are paying, and for Ottawa too
2) The GTHA pays a huge part of the tax revenue for the whole country!
3) But for cities to work they need transit, so everyone has to pitch in, especially for our biggest most productive cities

It is not. Early closures - yes. Weekend shutdowns - yes. But total shutdowns? It's just not normal practice.

🚆🔧 The O-Train is partially closed for annual maintenance. Many wonder why this can’t be done overnight. The process takes more time than you might think! If the line closes at 1am, it’s a challenge to clear trains, bring out maintenance vehicles, and prepare everything. (1/2)

@dilborg Yes, that refers to the “vehicles” being in “continuous” service, not the trackage. And the point is that Boston did shut down major portions of at least two lines for maintenance recently. Ottawa is not unique.
