Yesterday, ICRISAT marked World Intellectual Property Day 2026 with a high-impact virtual webinar, brought together leaders from research, industry, and startups across Asia and Africa. Organized by the Agribusiness Innovation and Nutrition Platform in alignment with ICAR’s IP & Technology Management Unit, the session focused on a critical challenge bridging the gap between innovation and real-world impact in agriculture. DG ICRISAT visits Millet Primary Processing Centre at Manpur, Gaya, Bihar! Dr Himanshu Pathak (@HPathakOfficial), Director General, ICRISAT, visited the Millet Primary Processing Centre at KVK-Manpur, Gaya on 20 March 2026, accompanied by Dr @dkchauhan, Head & CEO – Agribusiness Innovations and Nutrition, ICRISAT. The Centre, a key initiative under the Bihar Centre of Excellence in Millet Value Chain, is focused on building end-to-end value chains—from product development to market linkages—with a strong emphasis on empowering women farmers. With a processing capacity of ~1,000 kg/day, the unit is expected to benefit 3,000–5,000 farmers and FPO members across the Gaya district. The visit also featured an interactive session with women FPO members and farmers, who shared encouraging on-ground impacts of the newly established facility.

ICRISAT, in collaboration with the Society for Elimination of Rural Poverty (@serptelangana), has launched four women-led agro-processing units in Nizamabad district, #Telangana, under the project “Revitalizing Rural Livelihoods through the Establishment of Inclusive Agro-Processing Business Models and Entrepreneurship Development in Telangana State.” During a recent field visit, the ICRISAT team led by Dr Dinesh Chauhan (@dkchauhan), Head – Agribusiness Innovation Platform, along with the Additional Collector, Sri Ankit (IAS), and officials from SERP, toured the facilities and supported the commencement of operations. These enterprises reflect a significant shift from subsistence agriculture to value-added, market-linked rural entrepreneurship led by women. Spread across the mandals of Dichpally, Balkonda, Armoor, and Mendora, the newly established units focus on millet-based ready-to-eat products and primary processing of turmeric.
