I’ve been grappling with the question of ‘what is the AI for?’ Because the direction has been incredibly incoherent. Are we going to use it to save the planet? Are we going to solve child poverty? I’ve got bad news. From what I can tell it’s a tool to delete the middle class, fire middle managers, concentrate wealth, and make a stock number bounce.
It’s an illusion being pulled on boomers. When in reality most people are just using it as fancy google on the weakest possible platforms.
The primary magic trip of America is the middle class. The only reason your company works is middle managers. They absorb all the bullshit and institutional knowledge.
It’s not the first technology that’s incapable of being regulated. It’s the first technology that we’re being dumb enough to not bend towards a common good.
