The week I made my debut on the Kirk Minihane Show was one of the best weeks of my life. First of all, I NEVER would have been in studio without Steve's support. I cold-messaged him offering to help out while he went up to Madawaska early to setup the live show. (the hubris) As ridiculous as it sounds he allowed me to guest produce (with Kirk's permission for sure). Why he trusted me I have no idea. YES, I had already sent him parody songs that were played on air, but for all he knew I was a psychopath. I am, but turns out I can produce a show anyway. My debut on the show was the first week of February 2020. I think it was Thursday (with Mike) and then Friday with DEC. I was fucking nervous as hell. I'd never had THAT many people listening to me, obviously. And I was petrified I'd mess up the tech. What if I screwed up the audio or couldn't get it posted on Barstool? What if I sounded like a complete idiot on air? I'd never used the Rodecaster before — studied it for days leading up to the show. But it all worked out, somehow. THEN I drove through a fucking blizzard to Madawaska for the Live Show weekend. I could not see more than a dozen feet in front of the car. It felt like Star Wars. A tundra on both sides of the car. Cars in snowbanks and trucks burying me in their wash. I re-listened to the first episode as I drove, celebrating the good parts, and cringing to the bad. Then we took over that town. Did we do Mike and the Minifans? Yes, but I missed it due to the drive, though I really wanted to be there for it. Did we icefish? Yes. Barely. It was cold as hell on that lake. Did Mike get blitzed? Yes. (See "Drunk", a "Jump" by Van Halen parody, circa 2020 by your truly) The whole time I got to hang out with 200 people as crazy as me, who drove though that blizzard to the northern-most point in Maine to watch an intimate live show with the best to ever do it. I love that week. Bummed it's ending, but very thankful I got to be a small part of the show. Thank you Kirk.
