It's time to stop wasting time in #indianfootball , especially grassroots #coaching . Quitting!! After Coaching for 6.5 years every week, building grassroots teams from scratch, 11 played nationals, it kills me to see people who sit through courses get a pass. 1/n

This is how State Leagues should function. Clear notice, clear expectations. Open to NGO's as well. Cut to Delhi. Only Member clubs gets the Notice. To be a member club without voting rights, affiliation fee is 25 Lacs. To be an affiliate academy pay 20-25 K/ year. 😒😠

One thing which AIFF has done successfully over the years is to scout fluent English speaking South Delhi elites for the Presser and PR irrespective of sporting/ performance merit. The 3rd generation is here.😆

We can’t stop lobbying in Men’s football itself where non performing players getting call ups for senior National team. It idiotic of us to expect that their will be any fair call up in Women’s football across age group teams. Last space we did hear about unfair selection.
Anirban@dlast1_standing

@panenka_goal @indiafemmefooty For Age groups as well, maybe the same fate follows post respective Asian Cups'. Lobbying gets difficult under foreign coaches Especially when they are old in the system. With indian coaches, clubs with academies & residential setup have stronger dictat & lobby in pushing players

@alnshbdr @d_subrataCE OFCW team is outsourced to a Mumbai club. Crispin's Coaching is not game centric, results are not in his favour & selections smell of lobbies gaining upper hand. AIFF wants a YES man. The major beneficiaries of this are clubs with big academy setups by pushing avg players in NT

@d_subrataCE If Crispin is to continue after all (someone else is managing Odisha in IWL 2), then he should get Pro license at the earliest as well. In qualifiers, Priya PV was the official coach on reports, & most likely the same will happen in AFC & FIFA competitive matches in future.

@indiafemmefooty There is not future for women’s senior team’s coaching. Neither we will see a deserving coach getting appointed nor foreign coach gets time with team. Technical committee with IM Vijayan is screwed everything.

"The meeting was chaired by IM Vijayan, along with members Harjinder Singh, Shabbir Ali, Victor Amalraj, Climax Lawrence, and Santosh Singh, who recommended that the Federation look at Indian coaches as possible options to take over as the head coach of the senior Indian women’s national team, which has returned from their AFC Women’s Asian Cup campaign earlier this month." We are 2 steps forward and one step backward. And we want to qualify for a WC with this attitude. What a disaster wrt coach selection by Technical committee!
Indian Football@IndianFootball

The AIFF’s Technical Committee met online on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, to discuss the future of both the men’s and women’s national teams. The meeting was chaired by IM Vijayan, along with members Harjinder Singh, Shabbir Ali, Victor Amalraj, Climax Lawrence, and Santosh Singh, who recommended that the Federation look at Indian coaches as possible options to take over as the head coach of the senior Indian women’s national team, which has returned from their AFC Women’s Asian Cup campaign earlier this month. The Technical Committee thanked Amelia Valverde, who led the Indian women’s team as the head coach at the AFC Women’s Asian Cup, and wished her the very best for her future endeavours. The TC opined that with matches coming up for the women’s team in the April FIFA International Window, and the SAFF Women’s Championship to be held in June, this would be a good opportunity for an Indian coach to take charge. A final decision on the same will be taken soon. The TC recommended that as Mahesh Gawali has been appointed head coach of the India U20 national team to oversee the transition of players from the junior to the senior level, Renjith TA will be appointed as the assistant coach of the senior men’s Indian football team. Furthermore, the committee recommended the formation of a study group with one Technical Committee member, one AIFF coach instructor, and a scout to analyse the matches of the India U23 men’s national team at the U23 Tri-Nation in Arunachal Pradesh. The group will assess player performance and decide who may be ready for the senior level, while also identifying the areas where the team needs to improve. #IndianFootball

#indianfootball nowadays based on "Handlers". Tournaments (not league!) are projects & Squads are assembled based on the exchequer. Players enjoy flights & hotels, status & reels. Build "network" aka lobbies. Little training/ learning. Mostly matches. Nurturing is a big word....
Sambit Upadhyay@SambitUpadhyay

Instead of building, nurturing, and promoting footballers from Odisha, we now see a Maharashtra-based squad, along with their coach, simply rebranded to play under the name @OdishaFCW. This is not just disappointing. It’s unacceptable. (1/3) [Odisha FCW, IWL2, Indian Football]

It's a mirage, simply not worth chasing the goals of excellence in this country. After spending 12 years everyday in grassroots can say we shall look for better things to do with our lives. No one gives a damn, beyond a point not even the players themselves.

This is the reality. As India faced Japan yesterday, I was watching my own team face another on the ground and I was wondering how we were going to survive the next financial year. Last 3 months have been like that. 200 unanswered mails because CSR starts and ends on LinkedIn.

For all those surprised at #INDvJPN score has never watched #IWL , #IWL2, State Leagues, leave aside age group/ grassroots football. With 2 week IWL2, 3 month IWL, 6 match State Leagues, mostly unprofessional players, agent driven squads, egoistic coaches,we deserve that scoreline.

@rIndianFootball Why don't you guys file it and make the answer public. The world is not short of ideas but implementation. Saying this bcoz real activism comes with real consequences. P.S. Have filed RTI's in the past with State FA's and got no response as presumably they are not under RTI😒

For a long time, I had the (implicit) idea that possession football means to “keep the ball”. And when you do that, players will have the ball more often and will naturally create more chances. Which was not the case. It led to: - (Boring) side to side passing (because it is the safer option to pass back or horizontal than passing forward. Why should I risk passing forward, when the goal is to keep the ball?). - Conflicts: "We want to keep the ball, but the way to the goal is open" --> Conflict destroys the flow, which then looks robotic. Switching the overall intention to “possession so we can get to the opposing goal in a more controlled way” (‘vertical possession’), made all the difference. When you get the overall intention right, suddenly all the other things get better naturally. Passes get more precise. Fewer miscommunications. Better decisions. More creative actions. And, of course, more goals. A subtle difference, but it makes all the difference.

I totally agree with Joshua here but the challenge to access is not ability but politics in State FA & lobbying culture between State & AIFF Otherwise Delhi's two time top scorer would have got a trial call up atleast instead of random names from specific clubs #IndianFootball
