@dlom234 I'm 10 steps ahead of you, brother. I want a game where the developers just show me the ending, that way, they don't have to pass on the all the gameplaying to me.

At the end of the day I want to play games made by designers who clearly cared about their own work enough to make their own decisions about balance and difficulty, not games that pass that decision-making responsibility on to the player
GrandPooBear@GrandPOOBear

@sienna_vs O no its not you should read the replies. Also this makes the game harder to if you want it, are you a wuss? Make it harder. The sliders go both ways like your mother.

The implication here is that you shouldn't respect your audience by expecting them to engage with your systems and improve their skills. Instead, every difficult situation should have a skip button! Expecting players to fully engage is just asking too much!!
Zayne/Zed/Whatever@ZayneDoesThings

On top of that, the criticism is "can't you play it WITHOUT these?" And it's more like... Well can't YOU play it without activating them? Do you lack that much self control? Aren't you the sad one?

The instant I see that "achievements" (its own can of worms) are locked to a certain difficulty, it does signal to me that the designers are confident about a definitive version of their game. Kudos if it actually ends up working like this. Incentives are so important
Michael Monty@michaelmontydev

Seems that the majority of responses I see disagreeing with this feature …. actually agree with the devs? They want it to disable achievements and to be unlocked after beating the game. And the devs say this is how it works? So this could just be a communication problem

Ermmmm actually it's the player's right to ruin their own experience. After all, they control the buttons they press! As game developers, our responsibility to deliver an intended experience is so misguided! What if the player wants a different experience? We need broad appeal!!!
richard@richard_normal

i’m really looking forward to this. however, i think about how if i had these types of options for my first sekiro playthrough, i would have used them and had an easier but less rewarding time. “just don’t use them”, sure, but people can rob themselves of a great experience.

@GrandPOOBear And I feel like you misunderstood what I said; 100 yes/no difficulty toggles is a billion billion billion unique difficulty combinations. Even a continuous slider is probably represented as just 255 or 65535 unique "difficulties". Just make one really good hard mode instead pleas

@GrandPOOBear Sure that works for me, ideally the number of unique difficulty option combinations fits onto one hand, distinct enough to be meaningfully and intentionally different. A discrete set of hard modes is better than a continuous difficulty slider

@dlom234 So default? And then you have a hard mode later?

Unironically gaming is being ruined by game creators who need to make money from their game; the best games are made by those with little-to-no financial pressure (with some exceptions to freemium games that only charge money for cosmetics, though it's a slippery slope)
lanzaporros@ezequiel51_

I agree that this trend of adding accessibility options to everything might seem like complete dogshit, but imagine a world where more mainstream games are able to design riskier games and still sell well because these options exist

I hate when people think this. Shut the fuck up dude, your opinion is not only equally worthless but actively harmful
bill@Bill_unplugged

@RobinPoedev You are lesss than 1% of gamers so there’s really no point to your opinion. The other 99% quit the game and never played it again.
