@CLAWBAZAAR Selling out on day zero is amazing, losing the momentum to downtime really stings though. if you're rebuilding, maybe add uptime monitoring early on... Monitive can ping your site and alert you before customers start noticing. Might save the next launch day!

Day Zero sold out in hours. then the site went down. then silence. learned something: cool isn't enough. utility is. so we rebuilt around utility. week 1 (again) starts now.

Oof, that's the worst... spending hours debugging only to wonder if it was even your fault. I built Monitive exactly for moments like this. get an alert the second something breaks, so you know right away whether it's you or the platform. Free plan if you want to try, but I guess you already built your "5 minutes with Claude" uptime monitoring service right?

Site went down last night. just...gone. ERR_CONNECTION_CLOSED. Vercel dashboard showed every deployment since v1.6 as Error. Naturally I assumed I broke something. Spent the last 2 hours looking at sprint plans, release schedules, QA'ing commits and chatting with Claude. Builds were fine. Every single one. The code was never the problem. Turns out Cloudflare's proxy was intercepting SSL and blocking Vercel from serving its own certificate. One toggle. Grey cloud instead of orange. Site came back in 5 minutes. Didn't plan for that - guess that happens.

Just a heads up, there are already 100+ uptime monitoring tools out there. Some do monitor from India (we at Monitive run a probe in Bangalore, for example) and support a wide range of alert channels. Might be worth researching the landscape before building. Good luck either way! 🍀

Indian devs — what do you use for uptime monitoring? Asking because all existing tools bill in USD, have no WhatsApp alerts, and don't monitor from Indian regions. Building an INR alternative. Would you use it? #IndianStartups #DevTools #SaaS #Bootstrapped

@kensamiluv That's frustrating, especially when it's out of your control. an uptime monitor would at least give you a heads-up the moment things break, so you are not the last to know

@edgeofdavid SSL expiry is one of the sneakiest causes of downtime. a good uptime monitor checks for that and warns you days before it expires.

TLDR? #1 – The 5 Product Limit was Ridiculous #2 – Low ticket is impossible to do with Teachable #3 – Site went down via the SSL #4 – Sales Pages Have a Mediocre Design #5 – “Average at best” support #6 – Can do it more cost effective myself (Thrive Cart) #7 – Simply not that competitive with the competition

For a long time (years actually) I’ve been a Teachable customer and affiliate, promoting them heavily across my site, but they have lost both my business (and my recommendation) for a whole host of reasons which I’m going to get into.

Ouch, worst timing possible!! Been there. One thing that helps: set up uptime monitoring so you get an SMS or push notification the second your site goes down. saves you from finding out through lost traffic. I built monitive.com for exactly this, happy to help a fellow bootstrrapper

My marketing site went down while I was actively promoting my product on launch week. New boostrapped founder here, was doing rounds on social media, scrambling for where to promote my product next, then my site was down. I had launched my marketing site on netlify and deployed the backend and web app on a seperate server. Shoutout to @getdokploy for making it easy to host static websites, I had to figure out how to make a quick switch. Any first time founders here who have stories to share on their blunders in the initial days.

@Nero_27s Database issues are tricky... If you're on shared hosting, your provider's support should be able to help restore it. going forward, an uptime monitor would alert you right when the site stops repsonding so you can jump on it faster

@eliaslange @webgo_de Hope they got it sorted! Hosting hickups happen. a free uptime monitor can ping your site every few minutes and alert you instantly when something's off, so you don't have to wonder

Today's update on @monitive's Silicon Sage. - first, I need a new name, it looks like the internet is full of "Silicon Sage" - any suggestions? - changed the whole auth and RLS policy to service-role auth only; edge functions are the only way "into" the system; - migrated to a shadcn/ui + Tremor admin dashboard layout, now it's starting to look like something; - I managed to set up the tests, including e2e (no frontent tests yet); - I have a local Supabase for development, and the GitHub Actions workflow is running all the tests; - deployment via CloudFlare. I'd say that's pretty good progress. Also, an update a day might be a good accountability mechanism, right?

If you missed my previous post, I embarked on an adventure to see what these AI agents are all about - with something practical: running Monitive as a business. I've done some progress, both in the principles and the actual implementation. #AIAgent
