In all of recorded legal history, I have never seen a judge apologize to a would‑be assassin. It does not happen. It is not a judicial function.

I am the only January 6 defendant who have it on the record that my due processed rights were violated over prolonged solitary confinement at the DC jail. DC Judge Thomas Hogan ruled on this in December 2021. Judge Faruqui, or however you spell it, was the judge that signed off on my illegal extradition warrant out of Texas. So for that judge to say that he does not know about any defendants from January 6 to have these types of issues happen would have to be a lie.

As a former judge for over a decade, I am appalled by this judge’s condemnation of law enforcement and prosecutors who were simply doing their jobs to address the safety of this would be Trump assassin. Apologizing and coddling the man who attempted to kill the President of the United States and his cabinet is embarrassing to the entire judiciary. Human beings are the absolute worst at deciding when they aren’t 100% fit for the job at hand, and pilots are the worst, partly because of abundance of confidence, partly because many are “mission hackers”…finish the mission at any cost. So regulators have stepped in, and make those rules. And I’m glad…I’ve flown horrific days with delays and weather, and the company wants to continue to push. The mandated STOP times protect everyone (and at the end of the day, the passengers, who are owed that ultimate safety). Often times that creates logistical headaches…but it’s a small price to pay. My Dad, who like me, was a naval aviator before becoming an international airline pilot, swore he could still safely fly jets well into his 80’s…but it was scary to drive with him! At the end of the day, conservatism wins out—and should. Not everyone agrees with that, but we have no airline accidents occurring due to advanced age…and we need to keep it that way.

@dmanningimages @kpottermn As you know, the FAA has strict limits on flight hours and mandatory rest. These rules dramatically improve safety .. but they can reduce operational flexibility (more delays/cancellations) and limit experienced pilots from flying more, even when they’re capable or want to fly.
