Congratulations to @BHSGoBigBlue @BrunswickBball alum Pat Forsythe on his upcoming induction into the Medina County Sports Hall of Fame for boys basketball! Pat's senior year at Brunswick was one for the books, averaging 22.5 points, 12.5 rebounds, and 6+ blocks per game on his way to Gazette MVP and first-team Division I All-Ohio honors. That breakout season earned him a scholarship to West Virginia, followed by four standout years at Akron, including a MAC Tournament title and an NCAA Tournament appearance. From there, Pat took his game pro, suiting up in the NBA's G League before playing overseas in Estonia and Saudi Arabia. A well-deserved honor for one of the most dominant players to ever wear a Blue Devils uniform. Athletics fosters adaptability, responsibility, and a strong work ethic—skills that extend far beyond graduation. At the Board of Education meeting last week, several @BHSGoBigBlue student-athletes were recognized for exemplifying these traits in remarkable ways. Trey Drexler became BHS's all-time leading scorer, Marisa McCartin achieved 100 career wrestling wins, and Alex Burns transitioned from gymnastics to diving, earning All-Ohio honors. Additionally, the girls' swim team secured back-to-back district titles, while the boys' relay team became the first male relay team in BHS history to qualify for the state meet. Members of the Student Athlete Leadership Team (SALT) shared how they are working to build culture and provide student-athletes with important mental health and toughness resources.
