Thrilled to share that @Carlsbergfondet has funded my 3-year project on how deliberative referendums can benefit representative democracy. Soon there will be a call for a PhD student and a postdoc joining the project. Stay tuned! carlsbergfondet.dk/en/Forskningsa…

Update: an entire train to Odense is cancelled half way and people are asked to go back to Copenhagen. It's simply unbelievable! How can people commute to work? How can a developed country have such an awful train service? @omDSB #DSB @TRM_dk @KlimaMin @Finansmin @Statsmin

Accessing X just to mention how unbelievably awful the train service in Denmark is. Every year there are problems with the tracks and trains are massively delayed. Right now, a one-hour journey to Odense is taking probably 2 hours. Will anyone ever fix this mess? @omDSB #DSB

Has anyone tried to get an invoice from @Prolific? I need to run an academic study, but I cannot get it. No answer from the Help Center. How am I supposed to conduct any studies if I don't get an invoice?

The miserable life of a #journal #editor! Should I write an editorial to remind everyone that the #academic community is based on a social contract of #reciprocity and #cooperation? You cannot submit dozens of papers a year and not #review anything in return!

The election of Donald Trump is a dark day for reproductive healthcare, the rights of refugees and the future of our planet. As we speak, people are being slaughtered in Gaza and Lebanon. Our demands on our governments have not changed: stop enabling genocide and end all arms sales to Israel. We are a global movement, made up of all faiths and backgrounds, united in our opposition to racism and hatred. We will never abandon hope in a more equal, sustainable and peaceful world.

"Democracy is sustained when capacity of the state to redistribute incomes is moderate, so that control over office entails a stake that is neither too low, rendering competitive election inconsequential, nor too high, rendering parties unwilling to risk office in elections"
Adam Przeworski@AdamPrzeworski

Why democracy, backsliding, or autocracy? Unabashedly, I think this model has exceptionally rich results. The introductory overview is intended to be self-explanatory without delving into the math. See papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cf…

🚨 Just out in @PNASNews 🚨 Combining administrative registers and individual Twitter behavior among Danes, we show that multiple offline indicators predict online hostility: Having many more criminal verdicts increase the likelihood of being hostile online. But - against common stereotypes of online haters - so does having high school grades when you grew up. The reason: Hostility is about politics and those from an affluent background are much more likely to tweet about politics. All in all, hostility is not just about algorithms and the features of online discussions. Individual offline dispositions matter too. Thank you for another great collaboration to @stighebbelstrup and @boralexander1!

Lunedì aprono i centri italiani in Albania. Costeranno almeno il QUADRUPLO per migrante di quanto sarebbero costati in Italia, faranno LE STESSE COSE che avrebbero fatto in Italia e, probabilmente, riporteranno QUASI TUTTI i migranti trattenuti in Italia.

"Even a forecaster with perfect knowledge of future demographic trends would have performed poorly over this period—worse even than one who simply guesses that each election will have a 50-50 partisan split"
Vincent Pons@VinPons

Do demographic trends help predict the outcomes of US elections? We checked in our new @nberpubs paper "Pitfalls of Demographic Forecasts of US Elections" with Richard Calvo and Jesse Shapiro. A 🧵on what we do and find #EconTwitter #PoliSciTwitter. (1/n)

Another wonderful day with @omDSB. A journey of an hour between Odense and Copenhagen delayed by more than an hour. How can you convince people to take trains when they are slow, very expensive and even late? #greentransition #dsb #betterwalk

I just can’t get past Labour winning 65% of seats off 34% of the vote. Absolutely wild mismatch between the headline result and, well, everything else. Britain is now a multi-party system, and first-past-the-post can’t cope.
