We have federally charged Chamel Abdulkarim, 29, of Highland, in connection with the massive blaze that destroyed a 1.2 million-square-foot warehouse in Ontario early Tuesday morning, causing damages estimated at over $500 million.
Abdulkarim filmed himself setting merchandise on fire inside the warehouse and made statements criticizing capitalism and large corporations. He also compared himself to accused murderer Luigi Mangione.
We will not tolerate political activists who resort to violence to advance their ideology.
He is charged with arson of a building used in interstate and foreign commerce and used in activities affecting interstate and foreign commerce.
This felony charge carries a five-year mandatory minimum prison sentence and a statutory maximum of 20 years in federal prison.

NEW: The Harris County judge who went viral for berating an IT worker, filed for bankruptcy last year.
Harris County Civil Court Judge Nathan Milliron filed for Chapter 13 bankruptcy last May, according to KPRC 2.
According to court records, Milliron's case was dismissed in June 2025 after he failed to comply with required filings.
He reportedly had nearly $70,000 in debt, owing $30,000 to Amex and other balances to Chase, Discover, and Bank of America.
"When a bankruptcy case is dismissed in federal court, the debtor is still legally responsible for their debts," KPRC 2 reported.
"In this case, the court specifically cited Milliron’s failure to resolve deficiencies, meaning he did not comply with court orders, as the reason for dismissal."

NEW: Judges are speaking out after Harris County Judge Nathan Milliron went viral for berating an IT worker who was trying to help him. Milliron has served on the bench since January 2025. Some judges off-camera are speaking out, saying the IT staffer is "helpful and well-liked," noting that he helps judges with a variety of issues in the courtrooms. Retired judge Mike Schneider says a judge's conduct can be reported to the State Commission on Judicial Conduct. Judge Rabeea Collier has also released a statement to ABC 13 following the incident: "We are aware of the concerns raised regarding recent widely circulated footage involving a member of our Civil Division. "The conduct of everyone serving in the judicial system must reflect the professionalism, respect, and impartiality that the public rightly expects." "While it would be inappropriate to comment on specific matters that may be subject to review, I want to assure the public that we take these concerns seriously." ... FSD scared the crap out of me and my wife.
We were headed out of town and my wife was taking zoom calls in the backseat and I was relaxing letting FSD do all of the work. We were following behind a cement truck and as we went through the intersection, the cement truck ran the light at the last minute, as soon as FSD was able to see the light it turned red and FSD slammed on the brakes. My wife’s laptop went sliding across the car, but we got stopped, and then FSD backed us up behind the line.
