@joerghampel @NIglobal I hate those fixed constants. I always use the following in my code instead, I find them much more readable (and they don't change values when you change platforms!). Yes, there are times where text is more readable in graphical code than graphics. 👍

It transpires that the EOL constant is supposed to work differently depending on the platform: On Windows it gives you CR/LF, but on Linux & Mac it only gives you LF. Not sure how I could have forgotten about this. But such is life... #createbettersoftware @niglobal #labview🥺

@Dataflow_G This was intentional. The idea is that now that we have the double-click shortcuts for create constant/control/indicator the elevated right-click menu items would no longer be necessary.

@dnatt Unrelated, but PopupMenus.ElevateCreation is disabled by default in LV2023Q3. Any idea if this was intentional? I didn't realize how second nature it had become, so was a bit jarring to find those menus items missing. Manually added the key to labview.ini and all is good.

Testing out zoom in #LabVIEW 2023 Q3, and it features some interesting font rendering choices.

@Dataflow_G Thank you so much for posting a VI that demonstrates the issue and easy steps to reproduce. I have filed Bug 2475895 to LV R&D on the issue.

@dnatt Here's a VI which reproduces the issue (see txt for steps). At 150% zoom, LV treats text as UTF-16LE (and correctly renders UTF-16LE text as unicode). I've only been able to reproduce the issue with that particular tree control. github.com/dataflowg/snip… github.com/dataflowg/snip…

@Dataflow_G Also, is this English LabVIEW on English Windows? And do you have the unsupported useUnicode=TRUE setting in your INI file?

@Dataflow_G I spoke to LV R&D and we can't think of a reason this would happen. In LabVIEW 2023 Q3 the font grow/shrink keyboard shortcuts are Ctrl > and Ctrl <. Can you select one of those labels and grow/shrink the font size and see if the problem still happens?

When you find yourself updating a VI conpane to 8x6x6x8, it's time to spend the rest of the afternoon refactoring. #LabVIEW

I reminded a colleague today about a useful characteristic of #LabVIEW classes. A child class can contain a parent class object in its member data. This can be useful when writing class-based parsers and other functions that might require recursion.
