The past few days have been difficult.
The place I’m staying in was hit by one of the worst floods it has ever seen.
Everywhere I looked was water, rooftops floating in the distance, entire streets swallowed. I’ve only ever seen scenes like this on the news, never in real life.
For more than two days, we had no electricity, no signal, no internet.
Just rain, rising water, and complete darkness at night.
Time moves painfully slow when you have nothing to do and no way to know what comes next. Yesterday, when the water kept rising with no sign of stopping, things felt especially frightening.
There were moments in the last 48 hours when I felt hopeless.
But I kept telling myself: stay strong.
My family needed me to be present and calm.
This experience taught me something that oddly reminded me of the markets:
What’s truly terrifying isn’t losing everything, because in trading, you can still cut losses or take action.
But with a natural disaster, you have zero control.
You don’t know what will happen in the next hour, the next minute, or the next drop of rain.
Thankfully, the water in my area has receded now.
Other neighborhoods are still isolated, waiting for rescue teams to break through.
I’m praying for safety and strength for everyone affected.
I’m not sharing this for sympathy or attention.
I’m sharing it as a reminder, for myself of what I just lived through.
And why I need to work harder, earn more, and put myself in a position where I can protect my family and help others when moments like this happen.
I’ll come back stronger.
