Tntangn pndidikn di ri itu gimana mnanamkn di kalangan awam bhwsnny smua pengetahuan yg benar itu psti brguna (setidaknya scr epistemik) Pengetahuan baru blm tntu mrpkn solusi thd masalah yg sdg dihadapi skrg, tp dia adlh jwbn utk bnyk prtanyaan di masa dpn (“tabungan solusi”)

Kalo peneliti Indonesia meneliti ttg (misalnya) climate migration di Kiribati, gender-based violence di Tanzania, signifikansi musik country buat American South, konflik Nagorno-Karabakh dll, ada gunanya nggak sih buat rakyat, bangsa dan negara Indonesia?

Our study on shape diversity in cnidarians is now published. The final version includes extensive new data that substantially extend the original bioRxiv preprint. Congrats to everyone who contributed to this work! cell.com/cell/fulltext/… @embl

@flamingo_merah @koitekome Karo and Iban can be either ethnic groups or tribes depending how you define the smallest unit of ethnicities Probably a good analogy: Karo & Iban would be species, while Dayak & Batak would be the genera (genus) Dayak & Batak are “clusters of ethnic groups”

@koitekome You keep failing to understand the point “The concept of generalization” or the use of umbrella term of both Dayak has always been a Malay thing from the beginning The creation of Malay as a new umbrella term for all the locals (not only Malays) has always been a colonial thing

@dnltbing You’re actually just proving that both were adopted by colonizers. Obviously, the names themselves come from local languages. there’s no way words like “Dayak” and “Malay” originally existed in English or Dutch, lol. What I’m trying to say is “the concept of generalization.”

@koitekome You’re wrong “Dayak” & “Batak” are both umbrella exonyms initially created by coastal Malays. Colonialists adopted the use from Malays Malay is an endonym only for Malay. But then British colonialism & racism used the name as an umbrella term for all the locals, not only Malays

@dnltbing Whether it’s an exonym or an endonym, my main point is that both are forms of generalizations created by colonists. The generalization of hundreds of tribes into “Dayak” in Indonesia and hundreds of groups into “Malay” in Malaysia was indeed created by colonists.

@koitekome You miss the point Dayak is an exonym for a cluster of ethnic groups, not an endonym of any of them Malay is an endonym of an ethnic group, yet forced to be an umbrella term It would be the same if you use Iban as the umbrella term for all the indigenous Bornean ethnicities

@dnltbing Of course, if you ask the people themselves, they’ll give a more detailed answer. But if you ask people outside Kalimantan in Indonesia, they’ll usually just say “Dayak” instead of specifying the subgroups. The same thing happens with Malays in Malaysia too.

@by_inkriya @prasprasetja Yeah, just keep up the good work! Self-centric paradigm ada bagusny, tp klo too much sampe bikin gagal seeing the bigger picture, bhkn harming pihak2 yg lbh rentan & beresiko, trus gak nyadar malah harassing orang lain yg berjuang demi pihak yg rentan ini kan jstru very abusive

@by_inkriya Yup, sepakat! Gue pernah ngomong serupa kmrn2… tp ya paling dicap ableist elitist classist
DNLt@dnltbing

@cloriavey Elo toh gak bisa self-diagnosed utk penyakit2 klinis kyk demam berdarah, typhus, bahkan flu sekalipun; lantas apa yg bikin elo berani gegabah self-diagnosed utk urusan mental health?!?!

@koitekome It’s not apple to apple because among those Bornean ethnic groups, there’s not a single one being called solely as “Dayak”; whereas in “Malay case”, there is one ethjic group with one single name which is the Malay ethnic group per se. This clearly imposes supremacy above others

@investorgembel Faktor daerah yg dijajah sih klo mnurut gue… inggris ngejajah semenanjung Malaya yg notabene relatif homogen ketemunya Melayu melulu, alhasil mrk pikir ya orang lokal ya cukup disebut Melayu Beda sama Belanda & Portugis yg ketemu beragam suku bangsa di wilayah taklukan mrk
DNLt@dnltbing

@ComicsByVieN I think it’s more because Dutch colonized a relatively much more heterogenous area than Malay Peninsula where British did & Malay folks predominated more homogenously

@dnltbing Kalau Portugis aja ga sotoy, kenapa kemudian Inggris dan Belanda jadi sotoy? Saya curiga mereka nerusin kesotoyan orang lain.

@koitekome This is what happens when you oversimplify cultures you don’t fully understand. Indonesian ethnic classifications aren’t this basic
