Clinical courage is working at the edge of your clinical scope to meet the needs of your patients. This is our bread & butter. Rural clinicians are courageous. We are brave & we work towards morally worthy goals.
Proud to belong to this tribe 🥰

Top tip for juniors from @bdodds12 & @BelotMegan - be empowered to set your work-life boundaries; think about what this looks like for you & your family (and remember it’s dynamic & will change over your career - and that’s ok!!) #rma23

Working in rural health, we tend to accumulate lots of hats & we’re very busy… time away from work is precious & we tend to prioritise the fun stuff (rather than seeking medical care)… Dr Sue Masel #RMA23 @rural_doctors
Totally identify with this!!

We can’t underestimate the value of collegial connection in fostering wellbeing and togetherness in what can be an otherwise isolating work day. I’ve had so many life changing and simply ordinary conversations in the tearoom. #justagp #tearoom #wellbeing #intangibleinvestments

@KeysJaninepkane @inquisitiveGyn Yes! Absolutely agree. I’ve often said “how can I help you?” or “what can I do for you today?” but these days lean towards “what would you like to talk about today?”, I guess to make it feel a little less transactional... open to other thoughts...?
English

@doc_hof @inquisitiveGyn Hi, I’m Janine and I’m looking after you. 😃how can I help you? 😃smiling helps build rapport and don’t forget to pause lone enough so your pt can answer you! 😃
English

@inquisitiveGyn Fab clothes/accessories definitely. Kids/family. Weekend plans/activities. Local sporting team (definitely around Origin time). My favourite is “where are you (or your family) from”... and then learning new things about the wonderful Torres Strait Islands 🌴
English

@doc_hof Opening - I’ve got the referral. I’ve read it & I think I know why your here, can you please tell me in your words why you’re here today so I know your priorities? Otherwise I do ask about boots/fab clothes/tatts etc. nonverbal cues to build rapport. What are your tips @doc_hof ?
