@QLDCountryGP I agree, primary care rural GP needs to be as well funded with equivalent employee benefits as RG hospital work, without it we will continue to lose our primary care workforce. Many work as RGs in hospital to prop up their pay in GP, this shouldn't be the case, many then leave GP

1. Pretty sure I'll cop flack for this but bugger it. In rural QLD we have major GP recruiting & retention issues made worse by the disparity between how rural generalists & hospital GPs are valued by Queensland health vs how community GPs are valued by #medicare.

@ACRRM Spending time with my family and friends, to recharge and reset is my main tactic. I also use exercise, reflection and discussion with colleagues.

@WhitGP I'm one of the docs leaving Coona (a registrar). My dream job and a great town to work in. However there is a lack of flexibility and support from the LHD which has stopped my partner (crit care RN) from moving here so after a year living alone I had to make a tough decision.

Detected new AF whilst checking his blood pressure. Prevented the stroke he would’ve had. Convinced a woman to have her overdue Pap smear and she’s just had a hysterectomy for cervical ca. GP work isn’t invisible. We save lives every day. @ACRRM @RACGP

10. Unrivalled continuity of care, in GP, in ED, because I really get to know my pts. Many are my friends, the town is too small for this not to happen. I am blessed with so much laughter + joy in my consults rooms. I truly love being a #RuralGeneralist

9. Relaxing rural lifestyle. Now this might not be for everyone, but both my Husband and I agree, we are more relaxed in our tiny remote town, than anywhere else. No noisy cars, no traffic, no crowds. Instead peace, tranquility and a slower pace of life. Time to enjoy family.
