Gordon deployed to Afghanistan in April 2012 on her first combat tour, where she served as a lead intelligence analyst supporting operations in Kandahar Province. On October 13, 2012, at just 24 years old, Specialist Gordon was killed in action when her unit was struck by an IED in Kandahar Province during Operation Enduring Freedom. 🕊️ She was the first female Military Intelligence Analyst to be killed in action in Iraq or Afghanistan.
