Thousands of tiny wings. One breathtaking symphony. At the foothills of the Anamalai Tiger Reserve, the sky comes alive every evening as flocks of Chestnut-headed Bee-eater sweep through the air in perfect rhythm. They don’t just fly together. They survive together. These vibrant birds gather in large numbers to roost, using constant calls to stay connected, avoid predators, and hunt insects more efficiently. Found along forest edges and open landscapes, they quietly help maintain ecological balance by controlling insect populations. Because sometimes, survival is not about being the strongest. It is about staying connected. Credits : sriram_murali on IG #AnamalaiHills #BirdWatching #WildlifePhotography #TravelIndia [Anamalai Hills, Anamalai Tiger Reserve, Travel India]

Those ladies are Meitei Vaishnavites. It is most likely that they were there for the coronation. King Mahendra’s coronation took place in 1956 in Kathmandu, many ppl forget that Manipur was also a kingdom. The last Manipuri queen, Maharani Ishwari Devi, was a princess of Nepal.

India’s forests are, among other things, forests of memories. Memories of lives and times gone by. In this HT piece, I explore how the memory of elephants working alongside their human companions lingers on in the forests they once lived, played, worked, and died in. A short 🧵

Why do some viruses stay in our body for life? ➡️ A massive 900,000-person study maps the human “DNA virome” and shows: 👉 Viral persistence is common—not rare. ➡️ Key finding: Your genes play a major role in how much virus stays in your body. 👉 Immune response variability determines viral control vs persistence. ➡️ Not all viruses behave the same: • Some peak in childhood • Some increase with age (e.g., EBV) • Others decline over time 👉 Each virus has its own “lifetime trajectory. 1/
