DPAA continues working with partners in the Republic of Korea to advance the mission of bringing our missing home. A recent observation mission to the Korean DMZ helped assess future recovery opportunities where approximately 1,000 U.S. personnel remain unaccounted for.

Members of Congress toured the Daniel K. Inouye DPAA Center of Excellence to learn how historical research, recovery operations, forensic science, and DNA analysis help account for missing U.S. personnel. Congressional engagement strengthens support for DPAA's enduring mission.

From military medicine to recovery efforts and Reserve readiness, yesterday's meetings in Germany underscored the VFW's commitment to advocating for America's service members, veterans and their families. Joined by VFW Jr. Vice Commander Glenn Umberger Jr., @VFW_OfficeDC Executive Director Ryan Gallucci and Department of Europe Sr. Vice Commander Craig Breckheimer, the delegation met with leaders from @LRMC_Landstuhl, @dodpaa Europe Detachment, 7th Mission Support Command and @starsandstripes to strengthen partnerships and address the evolving challenges facing the military and veteran community. Discussions focused on the changing realities of battlefield medicine, including the growing impact of drone warfare on traumatic brain injuries and behavioral health, improving post-deployment recovery, supporting Reserve readiness and quality of life overseas, accounting for missing American service members and identifying new opportunities for the VFW to strengthen partnerships and support military medical, recovery and transition programs throughout Europe. #StillServing #VFW

On June 6, members of DPAA’s Investigation Team conducted an underwater investigation in Vietnam, using an autonomous underwater vehicle and divers to collect evidence and survey the site.

The 26 Europe-Mediterranean Disinterment Team disinterred 4 Unknowns from the Florence American Cemetery in Italy Via Cassia, June 17. The remains will be carefully transferred to the laboratory in Offutt AFB for further analyses and potential identification.
