Spoke with a couple from Columbus, OH. They paid $280k for a home in 2020 & that home is now $475,000. They got a 30 year, 3.75% mortgage. They now have 2 kids, need more space but a new home doubles their housing costs. ...They're trapped & millions are in this situation.

The CS2 reloading update completely changes a core mechanic at the heart of the game for the last 27 years. I think the best mentality is to adapt to this change, and figure out how to use it to destroy my opponents in battle. The game is not ruined, but it is different.

@disparutoo My favorite part in the Rip is when they setup a really creepy atmosphere of the whole neighborhood being empty owned by the cartel and then some random cartel guy with a AR runs up to them and was like you guys cool and nothing ever comes of it

This is obviously not true. “The Rip” has a whole van scene that drags on specifically because it is spelling out the ENTIRE and very basic events that happened before it. It literally retells the whole story again before the final action scene. Now this shouldn’t happen, but clearly does.

Netflix executives "laughed" over the claim they demand movies and TV shows to restate plot points over and over for viewers. "We actually all laughed when we watched that bit at the Oscars, but there's no such principle," Netflix film boss Dan Lin said. "I mean, if you watch our movies or TV shows, we don't repeat our plot. So I don't know where that comment came from. Certainly, we are focused on making great movies." variety.com/2026/tv/news/n…

@Gargrug @SandyofCthulhu Yeah because in 1949 Tolkien was commentating on Roman era bread rationing. Using the terms gatherers and sharers imposed by a central militant authority keeping track of quotas and managing food production and distribution resulting in mass shortages where none existed before.

Tom Bombadil stops the story cold. We are in an exciting cross-country trip as the hobbits pick their way through a creepy haunted forest to avoid the sinister Black Riders. A terrifying black huorn ensnares them. Poof! Here comes Tom deus-ex-machina Bombadil to save the hobbits from a threat which Tolkien seems to have created to give him an excuse to insert Bombadil. Then, just as the story starts to move again, Tom shows up a SECOND time as a deus-ex-machina to rescue the hobbits from the barrow wight. Ugh. Again stopping the story cold. What is Bombadil's function? He doesn't represent the Old Good Ways which the fellowship must save. Bombadil isn't threatened - he's a cheesy distraction. I'm not saying it's impossible to convince me that Bombadil is a Good Thing, but such a convincing would be an uphill battle, and I view Tom as one of Tolkien's missteps. I am happy Jackson left him out of the film, because it would have stopped the movie's flow too.

@Gargrug @SandyofCthulhu "We grows a lot of food, but we don’t rightly know what becomes of it. It’s all these ‘gatherers’ and ‘sharers’, I reckon, going round counting and measuring and taking off to storage. They do more gathering than sharing, and we never see most of the stuff again."

@Oilfield_Rando Eh, Skyfall is the quintessential modern Bond film, and it's the only good Daniel Craig Bond film. I keep saying just reboot him back into the 1960's.

In 1989 a Japanese company made a space shooting arcade game called Zero Wing. When they released it in Europe in 1991 they needed the opening scene translated to English. Instead of hiring a professional translator they gave the job to someone on the design team. The result was one of the most famous lines in internet history. The villain appears on screen and announces “All your base are belong to us.” The rest of the dialogue was just as broken. “Somebody set up us the bomb.” “You have no chance to survive make your time.” Nobody cared about the game itself but by 2000 the intro scene was being shared across every forum on the internet. Someone made a techno remix, someone else turned it into a flash video, and it spread everywhere. In 2003 a group in Michigan put signs reading “All your base are belong to us” all over their town as an April Fools joke and police called it a potential terrorist threat because nobody in town had any idea what it meant. It’s considered one of the first true internet memes.

I was the Justin Herbert vote. The guy had the worst offensive line in the NFL all season and despite that he was working miracles in almost every single game. Stafford's OL became 2/5ths as bad as Herbert's for 5 minutes and he became a turnover howitzer. He embodied 'value'.
