One Sunday morning in NYC, I went to meet my friend for coffee. I was wearing a hoodie and athletic pants, the usual for guys on a weekend morning I remember my friend showed up wearing awesome clothes and I asked him why he was dressed up. He said he'd just decided to always wear nice clothes wherever he goes I loved his attitude. Complete and total abundance. I now don't believe in saving nice things for special occasions. I take my favorite bag to the gym. I wear a vicuna sweater for coffee. I drink coffee out of a beautiful hand-made ceramic mug every morning and I let my friends and family borrow my apartment for weeks at a time. My nicest things get the most use I used to worry about scratches and stains. Truthfully, maybe .01% of the time, it happens. But now those scratches represent using beautiful things getting used in daily life Beautiful things are meant to be used. They're meant to be shared with the people you love. Don't save your china for a special occasion

I love the craftsmanship of beautiful bags -- canvas bags, totes, Dopp kits, sling bags -- all of them. The blue bag I'm carrying is from Kyoto, made by the same family, the same way, for over 120 years I wanted to learn more about bags so I went deep into the obsessive world of Youtubers/manybaggers. Honestly, I love watching their bag videos But the more I watch, the more I'm reminded of @oliverburkeman's principles in his book, Four Thousand Weeks: The search for the "perfect bag" is our search for the perfect productivity system, thinking if we just find the right one, we can fit it all We can't! No bag will ever let us carry everything we have. And there is JOY -- "the joy of missing out" -- in being selective about what we carry I'm inspired. Now redoing my bag setup to eliminate 20% of what I carry
